The Fed hiked to 3.75–4% and pointed to one more; the Nasdaq-100 broke to 28,753 in the last hour and closed flat at 28,945 while Brent fell to $105.83. Wednesday's US cash close was S&P 500 7,551.81 (−0.45%, low 7,507.77), Nasdaq-100 28,945.06 (+0.02%) and VIX 17.71 (+2.97%, high 18.94), with the Dow down 631 and the ten-year closing at 5.02% for a second five-handle close. At 06:37 Singapore (18:37 New York, post-close) the Nasdaq-100 CFD was 29,038.5 (+0.32%), the S&P CFD 7,566.9, the new front VIX future 18.68, Brent 105.56 and gold 4,274.40. The Energy Secretary said the Saudi pipeline restart "will be measured in days" while analysts say weeks, Saudi crude is moving off Oman by ship-to-ship, and two vessels have been attacked in Hormuz since Saturday. Every chart reading here is a fresh 16-September print.

The Fed did the priced thing and the tape did the twice-seen thing. Twelve to nothing for a quarter-point to 3.75–4%, sixteen of eighteen dots pointing to one more hike this year, no cuts pencilled before 2028, and a chairman who said inflation "is too high and has been for too long" without ever saying policy was sufficiently restrictive. The Nasdaq-100 had rallied into the decision — 29,235.89 at half past one, into the lost 50/100-day averages this framework had drawn as Option 02's fade zone — and the 14:00 bar sold it from there. The 14:30 press-conference bar sold it more. The 15:00–15:30 bar closed near 28,850, under the Monday low at 28,868, and the last bar of the day printed 28,753.29, which is the whole 4-August remnant filled and twenty-four points more, before closing at 28,945.06: up seven points on the day, ninety-two over the level it had just lost. The daily band floor at 28,875 held on the close.
The S&P did not get bought back. Its pre-decision high, 7,626.79, went fourteen points into the 10-September gap and was sold. Its 15:00 close near 7,525 was under Tuesday's low and through the 69-day average in the same bar; its low, 7,507.77, was three and a half points under the 100-day; and its close, 7,551.81, is twelve points under the daily Bollinger floor at 7,563.95 and under the 69-day at 7,564.08. That is the S&P's trapdoor opening on a close — the thing Tuesday's issue said one more down bar would do — and it happened while the Nasdaq-100's trapdoor held. The Dow lost 631 with Goldman leading it; the Nasdaq Composite was unchanged.
The internals printed the rollover path's signature, not the shock path's. The Dow Transports fell 2.78% to 20,075 and closed 475 points under the 20,550 line they had pierced and held four times; J.B. Hunt's earnings warning was the excuse and the freight tape was the story. The bank index closed at 178.58, a third consecutive close under 185 and the lowest of the leg. The NYSE composite closed at 23,934, under its 10-September low at 24,120. The Nasdaq-100 bullish-percent count fell to 32.67 — one more member lost its buy signal on a day the index closed up — and the S&P count fell 2.4 to 38.80, its first close under 40 this leg. Advance-decline was +894 at the pre-decision high and −1,041 in the press-conference hour.
Rates resolved nothing and the front end moved. The ten-year opened at 5.01, printed 4.93 in the decision hour, and closed at 5.02 — neither the 4.94 "last hike" close nor the 5.05 "not the last" close that the bracket named. The two-year rose seven basis points to 4.74, a cycle high; two-year to ten-year is now 28 basis points, the flattest of the leg, which is the market pricing the second hike at the front and the banks paying for it. The dollar index closed at 100.31, over 100 for the first time this leg. Gold traded 4,388 in the pre-market and 4,235 at the low — a three-percent range on a Gulf day, with the war bid failing again — and closed 4,257.97, four dollars over the short trigger.
Credit did not join. JNK closed at 94.39, up nine cents on a day the Dow lost 631 — a fifth close under 95 and no break of 94. The credit leg of the shock path is half-met and going nowhere fast; the ladders stay closed under 95 and the landing bid stays retired. Nothing on Wednesday moved the gate in either direction, and the one number that would — a verified close under 94 — is thirty-nine cents away.
The rate gate is over-met and unresolved. A second five-handle close is the thirteenth close over 4.70 and the fifth over 4.90; R16's spiral read stands and the D-fast input is met twice over. What the decision could have done was settle the bracket, and it did not: the long end neither believed the hike was the last nor priced the next. A close under 4.94 would be the first withdrawal sign; a close under 4.82 takes every S&P short off; a close over 5.05 is the next leg. None printed.
The oil cap did not step, in either direction. Brent settled $105.83, down 2.7%, the first down settle since 11-September and the sixth in a row at or above 101. Oil is slightly lower this morning for a reason the framework classifies as a headline rather than a flow: the US Energy Secretary put the pipeline restart at "days" while analysts who have seen the satellite images of the fire-damaged pumping station say weeks. Under the headline sit two real flow inputs — Saudi crude moving to Asian refiners by ship-to-ship transfer off Sohar, and Macquarie's read that the strait is carrying more than 7.5 million barrels a day despite the attacks — and a US inventory build. Against them, two vessels have been attacked in Hormuz since Saturday, so the headline protocol stays live and every tactical index long stays struck. R14 stays at Step 3, the 20% cap: 109.45 held twice, 101 is the restore line, and "days" is not a signed date.
Breadth has no repair to report and one pending flag. The NYSE McClellan oscillator was flat at −56, the positive morning and negative afternoon cancelling; the bounce arm at −60 is closed by 3.77. The Nasdaq-100 advance-decline percent printed +43.56 at the pre-decision high — the repair print this framework has been waiting for — and closed at −1.98; a repair on a wick is not a repair. The equity put-call ratio printed a 0.90 day-print, the third over 0.85 in eight sessions; the previous two vanished on revision and this one is unarmed until Thursday's render says otherwise. If it survives, the countertrend protocol is two of three and every short in the book halves by rule.
The Nasdaq-100 CFD at 06:37 Singapore was 29,038.5, up a third of a percent from a cash close that was itself up seven points on a day the Dow lost 1.2%. Five things explain it, in order of weight. First, the decision's damage landed on the things that borrow, not the things that spend: Goldman led the Dow down, J.B. Hunt lost 12.6% on a freight warning, Diamondback lost 8% on the oil give-back, while Intel rose 4.3% on SK Hynix talks about US memory production, ASML rose 2.9% as the Amodei-essay slowdown fears unwound, Coherent and Lumentum rose 6%, and Dell rose 2.5%. The Nasdaq-to-S&P ratio rose 0.29% on the session. Second, the last hour's reversal trapped the shorts that the first post-presser close had filled — this framework's own Option 01 among them — and a reclaim that voids a break is post-close fuel. Third, both overlays that have hurt the index most this leg paused: the ten-year finished flat instead of running through 5.05, and Brent gave back three dollars. Fourth, the AI-capital tape was bid — OpenAI weighing a round above $1.2 trillion, Anthropic preparing a Nasdaq listing as soon as October. Fifth, the mechanics: 93 points on thin post-close volume with Asia not yet open, and it puts the CFD on 29,038 — the old remnant top, the level Tuesday's issue named as the first lid — to the point. The framework does not read a post-close drift as a regime input: the count made a new low on the same session, two members are at 52-week highs against a hundred, and a lid tested from below on a drift is a fade set-up, not a long.
Path D falls 2 to 48%. The shock path printed its inputs again and not its close. Rates over-met (a second five-handle close, the two-year at a cycle high) and the S&P's trapdoor opened on a close — those are D's. But the vol leg refused by six hundredths (18.94 against 19, and a close at 17.71 under the corridor), the credit leg did not break (JNK up on a hike day), and the oil leg gave back three dollars. D's honest weakness after Wednesday is that the deep landing has now been bought on first touch twice this leg, and the second time the tape bought the whole remnant back inside one bar. D stays modal because the inputs are still met; it re-takes weight on a VIX close over 19, a verified JNK close under 94, or a Brent settle over 109.45.
Path C rises 4 to 38%. The rollover path printed its internals on the decision: the transports broke 20,550 on a close, the banks made a third close under 185, the NYSE lost 24,120, both counts made new lows with the Nasdaq-100 flat, and the Nasdaq summation went seventy through its April-low analog. The tape's shape is C's — sold at the lost averages, bought at the landing, closed between them. C's staircase is now 29,038 as the lid, then 28,875, 28,753, 28,564, 28,280 and 27,753, with bounces to the averages and the magnet sold; Options 01, 02 and 08 are its expressions.
Path B falls 2 to 10%. B's S&P box floor at 7,573 broke on a close. What is left of B is the Nasdaq-100's half: the daily band floor held, the deep break was bought back, the CFD sits on the lid and the +43.56 advance-decline wick shows the members can advance. B needs two 30-minute closes over 29,210 and a count over 45 — twelve points away — to re-price, and the rates and oil overlays argue against it.
Path A holds at 4%. The Nasdaq-100 outperformed on the decision and two members made 52-week highs; that is all. A needs the count over 60 on two closes (27 points away), 29,972 reclaimed, Brent under 83, a signed Hormuz date and a ten-year under 4.90, and the dots — one more hike — moved the last of those further away.
Wednesday's map was the four-outcome bracket, and it resolved as a hybrid: Outcome One on the dots and the VIX (the doorway 18.5–19.5 was reached at 18.94), Outcome Two on rates (no close over 5.05 — but no close under 4.94 either), and a unanimous vote where the bracket had watched for a dissent. On price, the S&P projection for the hawkish outcome, 7,520–7,570, hit at 7,551.81; the Nasdaq-100 projection, 28,600–28,850, missed by 95 because the break printed to 28,753 and was bought back to 28,945; the pre-decision pin at 28,900–29,100 missed because the morning ran to 29,236. The Executive Summary's line in the sand — a 30-minute close under 28,868 after the presser moving weight to D — printed at 15:00 and was reclaimed by the 15:30 bar. By the reclaim clause the read is retired and D falls. That is a called shot that landed as drawn and then did not hold, and it is owned as such.
The book paid for its own rules three times. Option 01 filled near 28,850 on the 15:00 close; the 28,753 print took its first target at 28,777 for a third (+73); the 15:30 close at 28,945 was the void clause, and the remaining two thirds came off there at about −95 each — blended roughly −39 on a 0.5% structure, carried at −95 if the target fill is disputed, because under the full-cost doctrine a loss that may not exist is claimed. Option 03 filled near 7,525 on the same bar; because the bar went through 7,562 the v9.82 rule rolled it into Option 07's targets, two of which sat at or over the fill — the same design defect that put Option 05's first target under its fill on Tuesday, now on the S&P. A third came off at 7,521 (+4) on the 7,507.77 print; a third came off at 7,542 (−17) on the way back under the target-over-the-fill precedent; one third is open near 7,525, 27 points underwater at the close and 42 against the CFD. Option 05's two thirds were stopped at 16.40 — the day's low, to the cent, printed around one o'clock, an hour before the spot ran two and a half points to 18.94. Blended across the whole structure that is about −0.79 on 0.5%; the stop was placed 1.18 over the war gap by design and the tape printed it exactly. Right on level, wrong on timing, for the fourth time on the vol side this leg.
Options 02 and 04 were never taken, and both zones were touched and rejected exactly as drawn: the lost averages at 29,236 and the 50-day stack at 7,627, both before the decision, both rejected on the 14:00 bar that is never traded. Roughly +290 and +75 foregone to the close. The session gate that excluded them is the gate the 28-August speech bracket wrote after a 150-point loss, and the framework keeps it; this is a rule cost, not a miss. Option 06's gold trigger was Thursday-basis by rule and Wednesday's close held four dollars over it in any case; Option 07 was absorbed by 03's roll; Option 08's first rung was 68 points over the high. Two things cannot be resolved from the render and are carried as such: the exact 15:00 closes on both indices (±20 and ±5), and whether the S&P's third at 7,542 would have printed before or after the 7,507 low. Neither changes the claimed loss.
Three rules change with v9.84. A rolled or re-keyed target that sits at or above a short's fill is struck, not taken as a stop, and the structure keeps only the targets below the fill; a deep-break sell-stop under a landing that has been bought on first touch twice runs at half size — the bought-twice rule; and the VIX base long is retired as a structure after three stops-then-spikes. The session gate and the range-exclusion for carried stops are kept at their cost.

Win probability is the framework's estimate that the first target prints before the stop within the horizon (one day to one week), given that the trigger has fired. It is conditional on the trigger, calibrated to the scenario weights (D 48 / C 38 / B 10 / A 4), the structure type's record in the past thirty days (relief fades at lost averages five of six resolved down on first touch, the sixth being Wednesday's pre-decision rejection; deep-break sell-stops four of seven paid, the last two bought back; carried thirds two of four closed positive; vol structures two of five), and the trigger's distance from the last print. It is not a backtest. Options at or below 50% are lower-odds, higher-payoff structures and carry the muted pill. The unconventional structure is Option 06, a VIX doorway long held as the convexity hedge for every short in the book — it pays into the same rule that cuts them; Option 05 carries a size-swap bracket with the carried third so the combined S&P short never exceeds 0.5%.

The lid is tested first, then the floor. The CFD opens on 29,038; the base case has the first hour testing the 29,038–29,053 lid cluster and, if it clears, the lost averages at 29,174–29,210, with the framework expecting the relief to be sold at one or the other because the count is 32.67 and the averages are lids, and the afternoon back at the 28,875 band floor with 28,753 the reference. Projected close 28,800–29,050 on the Nasdaq-100, 7,510–7,570 on the S&P, the VIX 17.0–18.4, the ten-year 4.96–5.06, Brent 103–108 on the settle. Reweighting up needs two 30-minute closes over 29,210 with the count printing over 40 and advance-decline over +800 on the close — the relief then runs to the magnet and the ladder's first rung, and B goes to 14. Reweighting down needs a holding 30-minute close under 28,753 with the S&P under 7,508 and the VIX over 18.16 — the next step to 28,564, the VIX to 19, the shorts halved and the hedge paying — and D re-takes 52.
The post-hike week with the count at a new low and the S&P under its band floor. Friday's weekly close is read against the 20-week at 29,341 on the Nasdaq-100 and 7,540 on the S&P — 396 over the one, twelve under the other; quad witching pins the tape near the 29,000–29,050 strike cluster into the close and the framework is flat by 15:30. Next week the tape trades the dots against the oil headline: a signed restart date takes four to six dollars out of Brent and re-reads every short; a Hormuz strike puts it back. Base case 28,564–29,341 with the lost averages sold and 28,753 tested, the S&P 7,470–7,612. Up-reweighting: two daily closes over 29,210, the count over 45, and three advance-decline closes over +800. Down-reweighting: a verified JNK close under 94, a VIX close over 19, or a Brent settle over 109.45.
The hike is in and the second is priced at the front, and the index sits 1,835 points under its June high with a third of its members on buy signals. The September monthly close on the 30th is the verdict: the monthly RSI at 67.29 running is 2.45 under the August final and 10.59 under the 77.88 invalidation line, and a September close under the monthly 5-EMA at 28,734 with the RSI under 69.74 locks the third peak lower. The October meeting is likely a skip and earnings begin in the middle of the month; Citi puts the Hormuz reopening in the fourth quarter, which is the largest upside input on the board and the largest sell-the-news set-up for the war-bid assets. Central range 27,753–29,656 with a downward drift; the R3 band at 26,690–27,189 is the terminus if the credit or oil leg meets. Up-reweighting needs the five-condition parlay — a signed date, a Brent settle under 101, JNK over 95, the ten-year under 4.90, the count over 60 twice. Down-reweighting is a 120 settle, a verified JNK close under 94 and a VIX close over 21.
Central: a 26,500–30,000 range with a downward drift while the monthly divergence — three peaks, the 1999 analog — resolves, with a hiking cycle the Fed itself calls bounded capping the multiple. The bull tail is a peace dividend and disinflation resuming into 2027 on the Fed's own projections, taking the index to 31,000–32,000 against the monthly band top at 31,588 and to 32,000–33,500 by year-end in an invalidation regime that only a monthly RSI close over 77.88 can license. The bear tail is a China-bank secondary sanction, a 120 Brent transit and a third hike, taking it to 24,500–26,000 — the 38.2% at 25,882 and the April band. Year-end base case, conditional on the September close: 27,000–29,500 on the Nasdaq-100, 7,000–7,600 on the S&P.
The decision, the vote, the dots and the projections are from CNBC's decision report and the Washington Times; the press-conference quotes and the closes (S&P 7,551.81, Nasdaq Composite 25,978.42, Dow 51,461.90) from CNBC's market wrap and Yahoo Finance; the single-name moves, the Intel–SK Hynix talks, the Saudi ship-to-ship cargoes, the Macquarie and UBS reads, the OpenAI and Anthropic reports and the Iran-war items from TheStreet's live blog; the Brent and WTI settlements, the Energy Secretary's "days" remark and the UKMTO vessel attacks from CNBC's oil report and BusinessDay/Reuters; the ten-year and two-year wire prints from CNBC's bond report. Every index level, average, band, oscillator and count is read from Core_Charts_20260917.pdf (Gen 3, 55 of 55 core charts resolved by manifest label); the 06:37 SGT quotes are from the live_prices_20260917.json capture. The AAII spread and the NAAIM exposure are carried from the 10- and 9-September prints and are not presented as Wednesday prints; the 15:00 and 15:30 closes on both indices are read from the 30-minute render and carried within ±20 and ±5 points.
The Fed did what was priced and the tape broke the deep landing, filled the whole August remnant at 28,753, and bought it back before the bell — for the second time this leg. What repaired: nothing under the surface — both counts made new lows on a flat index, the transports broke 20,550 on a close, the banks made a third close under 185, and the S&P closed under its band floor. What did not: the shock path's close, again, with the VIX refused six hundredths from the leg, credit up on a hike day and oil three dollars lower on a restart claim the analysts dispute. The tactical line is the lid: the CFD sits on 29,038 to the point, and the first-hour rejection under it, or under the lost averages at 29,174–29,210, is the structure. The next decision point is Friday's quad-witching close against the 20-week at 29,341 — and, before that, whether a 30-minute close under 28,753 prints with no remnant left to buy.
