The Nasdaq-100 gapped over both lids to 29,447 (+1.73%), the VIX fell 12.8% to 15.44, the ten-year eased to 4.94% — and the breadth count did not move. Thursday's US cash close was S&P 500 7,637.76 (+1.14%), Nasdaq-100 29,446.98 (+1.73%, low 29,305.90) and VIX 15.44 (−12.82%), with chipmakers up about 3% and the ten-year snapping an eight-day rise. At 06:37 Singapore (18:37 New York, post-close) the Nasdaq-100 CFD was 29,394.5 (−0.18%), the S&P CFD 7,631.8, the front VIX future 18.70, Brent 104.09 and gold 4,348.41. Brent settled $104.82, a second down settle, as Riyadh put half its damaged pipeline back "within days"; the President said the war is "hopefully" near its end, without a date. Every chart reading here is a fresh 17-September print.

The tape did not test the lids — it skipped them. The Nasdaq-100 opened at 29,401.54, which is 348 points over the top of the first fade zone, 191 over the line that retired yesterday's read and 97 over the top of the two-gap magnet this framework had drawn as the pivot stack. It never traded under 29,305.90, printed 29,494.95, and closed at 29,446.98, up 501.92 points. One close reclaimed the 50-day (29,178), the 100-day (29,231), the 20-day (29,281), the 69-day (29,302) and the 20-week (29,366). It left a new open gap beneath it — 29,235.89 to 29,305.90, logged as gap #39.
The S&P took back what Wednesday lost and stopped at the first line of the next stack. It opened at 7,631.44, dipped to 7,611.81 — fifteen points under Wednesday's high, so no gap — filled the 10-September gap in full, and closed at 7,637.76. That is back over the daily band floor (7,562), the 69-day (7,568) and the 50-day (7,615), and seven tenths of a point under the 14-day EMA at 7,638.47, with the June high at 7,640 and the 10-day at 7,642 directly above.
Volatility did not refuse the doorway this time; it left the building. The VIX opened at 16.03 — under Wednesday's low, a gap-down of its own at 16.29–16.40 — and closed at 15.44, down 12.8% and under every daily average on its chart. The low, 15.38, stopped sixteen hundredths over the war gap at 14.58–15.22. The front future sat at 18.70 in the evening: a 21% premium, the widest of the leg — the curve declining to believe the spot.
The reasons were real. The ten-year fell eight basis points to 4.94%, ending an eight-day rise; Brent fell a second day; chipmakers rose about 3%; and the President told reporters the war is "hopefully" toward its end and that he has spoken with Tehran directly. Gold rose 1.84% to 4,342 with yields falling. As on 4 September — when, in that issue's words, the breadth gauge printed under 50 on the best day in a month — the strongest session of the fortnight arrived without its members.
Breadth — the gate the framework ranks first — did not move. The Nasdaq-100 bullish-percent count opened at 34.65, reached 36.63, and closed at 32.67: unchanged, at the low of its bar, four buy signals gained and lost inside one session. The share of Nasdaq-100 members over their 50-day average fell to 31.68, with an intraday low of 26.73 that is a new low for the leg; the S&P's equivalent fell to 31.40. The advance-decline percent opened at +48.51, over the +30 repair line, and closed at +25.74, under it — 76 advancers at the open, 63 at the close. The Nasdaq summation index fell for a thirteenth session. One repair count did start: NYSE advance-decline closed at +877, the first of the three closes over +800 the rule asks for, and it closed near the low of its range.
Credit improved and the ladders stay shut by a quarter-point. JNK closed at 94.74, up 35 cents, a sixth close under 95 and the nearest to the line since it was lost. A verified close over 95 re-opens the structural bids and, by the ladder's own clause, covers half of the open Nasdaq short. It has not printed.
The rate gate eased to the basis point and not through it. A close under 4.94% is what this framework named as the first sign the market reads the hike as the last for now. Thursday closed at 4.94. The five-handle input is withdrawn — the streak ended at two — but the spiral read over 4.90 stands by four basis points, and the rule says "under", so the sign is not booked. The two-year fell six to 4.68; the dollar index held over 100 for a second close.
The oil cap did not step. Brent settled $104.82, the seventh settle at or above 101 and the second down settle running. Riyadh's timetable — about half the East-West pipeline's capacity within days, all of it within six weeks — is a better class of headline than Wednesday's and still not a signed date. R14 stays at Step 3, the 20% cap; 101 is the restore line, 3.82 away. "Hopefully" is not a date either, and with two vessels attacked in Hormuz this week the headline protocol stays live: outright tactical index longs remain struck.
Sentiment changed band, and it counts for tone only. The AAII survey printed 28.8% bulls against 53.3% bears — a spread of −24.5, "washed out" on the gauge and the most one-sided reading of the leg — while active managers cut exposure from 87 to 72, which is normal, not capitulated. Read contrarian, one stretched leg leans constructive; by rule it never overrides the count.
Path D falls 14 to 34%. This is the largest one-session move of the leg and it is a changed view, stated as one: yesterday shock was modal at 48. Three of its four legs moved against it on a single close — volatility collapsed, the five-handle rate close withdrew, credit rose to within a quarter-point of its line — and the fourth, oil, made a second down settle. D keeps 34 because Brent is still 3.82 over the restore line, the ten-year is still over 4.90, nothing is signed, and the VIX future refuses to confirm the spot. It re-takes weight on a Brent settle over 109.45, a ten-year close back over 5.00 or a VIX close over 17.85.
Path C holds at 38% and becomes modal. Its price shape failed — the relief was not sold at a lid or at the magnet; it was gapped over both — and its internals printed in their purest form on the same session: index up 1.73%, count unchanged, fewer members over their 50-day. The two cancel. The staircase re-anchors from the top: 29,453–29,495, then 29,366, 29,306, the gap fill at 29,236, 29,178 and 29,038.
Path B rises 13 to 23%. Yesterday's issue set B's conditions as two 30-minute closes over 29,210 and a count over 45. The first printed on every bar of the day; the second did not move. B is capped until the count closes over 40, and gives the thirteen back on a holding close under 29,306.
Path A rises 1 to 5%. Every gate eased. A still needs the count 27 points higher, 29,972 reclaimed, Brent under 83 and a signed date.
Thursday's map missed. The 24-hour projection was a close of 28,800–29,050 on the Nasdaq-100 (missed by 397), 7,510–7,570 on the S&P (missed by 68), a VIX of 17.0–18.4 (15.44), a ten-year of 4.96–5.06 (missed by two basis points) and a Brent settle of 103–108, which hit. One in five. Even the bull alternative, 29,150–29,320, was exceeded by 127 points. The Executive Summary's signal carried its own retirement line and the open was already beyond it, so the read was retired before it could be traded — which is what the clause is for, and is still a directional miss, named as one.
The book paid twice. The carried S&P third from Wednesday's break, short near 7,525 with its stop re-keyed outside Wednesday's range at 7,632, was stopped in full — the CFD traded through it before the cash open — for about −107 on the third. The whole Wednesday structure closes at roughly +4, −17 and −107 on its thirds, about −40 blended on 0.5%. The structural ladder filled on all three rungs. Rungs one and two are claimed at their limits, 29,304 and 29,341, because the CFD traded through them overnight; the cash open at 29,401 would be a better fill, and under the doctrine a gain that may not exist is not claimed. Rung three filled at 29,434 in the session. Blended about 29,360: 87 points underwater at the close, 35 against the CFD, stop at 29,550, 55 points over Thursday's high.
What the rules saved: Option 01's gap clause voided the lid fade, which would otherwise have been short 29,038 into a 450-point gap; Options 02 and 05 were never touched; Options 03, 06 and 07 never triggered. And the put-call print the framework refused to arm on Wednesday — a 0.90 day-print that would have halved every short — was revised to 0.69 on Thursday's render, the third day-print in nine sessions to vanish.
Five rules change with v9.85. Limit fills across an overnight CFD move are claimed at the limit, never at a better cash open. After a day on which the members fail to confirm, no tactical short is taken on strength — only on a rejection or failure close. When the cash open clears every drawn fade zone, those zones are dead for the week, and the next structures are drawn from the new gap's edges. A structural ladder's first target should not sit closer than a quarter of its stop distance — today's carried ladder breaks that and is flagged. And the volatility stop goes under the war gap, not over it.

Win probability is the framework's estimate that the first target prints before the stop within the horizon (one day to one week), given that the trigger has fired. It is conditional on the trigger, calibrated to the scenario weights (C 38 / D 34 / B 23 / A 5), the structure type's record in the past thirty days (rejection fades at named lids five of six resolved down; deep-break sell-stops four of seven paid, the last three bought back; carried positions two of five closed positive after Thursday's stop; vol structures two of six), and the trigger's distance from the last print. It is not a backtest. Options at or below 50% are lower-odds, higher-payoff structures and carry the muted pill. Two structures are unconventional: Option 07, a market-neutral Nasdaq-over-S&P pair that expresses Thursday's leadership without taking a side on the gap, and Option 08, a two-way gold bracket. One tactical short per index at a time.

Base case: an expiry pin over an open gap. The CFD is already 52 points under the close, and the framework expects Friday to trade 29,300–29,500 around the 29,366–29,453 stack, with the gap top at 29,306 as the pin's floor; projected close 29,280–29,480 on the Nasdaq-100, 7,600–7,655 on the S&P, VIX 15.2–16.4, ten-year 4.90–4.98, Brent settle 102–106. Step by step: the daily stochastic on both indices turned up from under 30, which argues against a straight reversal; six averages sit inside the gap, which makes a fill a mid-band test rather than a break; and the unmoved count says the gap is more likely to be tested than not. Weight moves toward B on a second daily close over 29,366 with the count over 36 — projected 29,480–29,600 — and the ladder is out. It moves back to C on a holding 30-minute close under 29,300: the gap fills to 29,236 on the day and the 50-day at 29,178 is the afternoon's test.
Base case: 29,178–29,579 with the gap filled at least once — each of the three cash up-gaps this tracker has logged since 25 August has since filled — and the character of the fill deciding the path. A fill that holds 29,178–29,236 is the range path's; a fill that loses the 50-day is the rollover's. The S&P works 7,568–7,690. PCE prints Friday 25 September. Reweighting up: two daily closes over 29,366, the count over 40 and two more NYSE advance-decline closes over +800. Reweighting down: a daily close under 29,178, a ten-year close back over 5.00 or a Brent settle over 109.45.
The September monthly close is now a coin on its edge. The Nasdaq-100's monthly RSI is 69.69 against the 69.74 August final — five hundredths — with the month down 0.03%. A close over 29,457 with the RSI over 69.74 un-locks September's lower-peak read, though only a monthly RSI close over 77.88 invalidates the three-peak structure; a close under the monthly 5-EMA at 28,901 locks it. Central range 28,564–29,972, with the gates deciding: three of the bull path's five conditions are within one session's move — JNK 0.26, the ten-year four basis points, Brent 3.82 — and the fourth, the count, is 27 points away. The fifth is a signature.
Central case unchanged: a 26,500–30,000 range with a downward drift while the monthly divergence resolves, a two-hike cycle capping the multiple, and a Hormuz reopening as both the largest upside input and the largest sell-the-news set-up for the war-bid assets. Year-end base 27,000–29,500 on the Nasdaq-100 and 7,000–7,600 on the S&P, conditional on the September close. The upside tail (31,000–32,000) needs a signed reopening and disinflation resuming; the downside tail (24,500–26,000) needs stacked shocks — a $120 Brent transit, a credit break under JNK 94 and a third hike.
Thursday's session colour — the S&P up about 1%, chipmakers up 3%, the ten-year snapping an eight-day rise — is from Bloomberg; single-stock moves, the President's remarks, the Fed commentary and early gold futures from TheStreet's live blog, citing CNBC, Reuters and Al Jazeera; the Brent and WTI settles and the Oman ship-to-ship detail from CNBC; the Saudi pipeline timetable from Trading Economics. Dow and Nasdaq Composite closing prints were not verified at capture and are not quoted. Every index, volatility, breadth, rate, credit and sentiment reading is from Core_Charts_20260918.pdf (Gen 3, 55 of 55 core charts resolved by manifest label), dated 17 September; live quotes are from live_prices_20260918.json at 06:37 SGT. JNK is a weekly render and its daily change is computed against Wednesday's chart close. No value in this issue is carried forward, and none is presented as a Friday print.
Thursday repaired what the price chart can see, all at once: five averages and the 20-week on the Nasdaq-100, three on the S&P, volatility under 16, a ten-year back under five, oil lower twice. It did not repair the thing this framework ranks above price — the count closed where it opened, with fewer members over their 50-day than on the day of the hike. The map missed, the carried S&P third took its full stop, and the ladder is filled and underwater; the rules that were kept saved a larger loss. The rollover path is modal at 38 by default, with the range path up thirteen. The tactical line is 29,306 below and 29,453 above, and nothing is sold on strength. The next decision point is 16:00 New York: a second close over 29,366 takes the ladder out.
