The Nasdaq-100 opened at its high and handed the record back (30,470, −0.85%) as the 10-year closed 5.12 and Brent settled back over $101. Wednesday's cash close was S&P 500 7,706.03 (−0.75%), Nasdaq-100 30,470.29 (−0.85%) and VIX 15.18 (+6.83%), with the Nasdaq Composite −1.13%, the Dow −0.68% and more than 72% of NYSE issues down. At 06:43 Singapore Thursday the Nasdaq-100 CFD was 30,504.3 (+0.11%), the S&P CFD 7,711.1, the VIX future 17.68, Brent 103.31 and gold 4,288.71. The ten-year's 15bp rise was its largest one-day move since April 2025, driven by flash PMIs showing the strongest activity in five years and Governor Barr saying further tightening is likely needed; October hike odds moved to about 70%. Brent settled $103.08 after Pezeshkian's UNGA address; Trump backed a diesel export ban; nothing was signed on Hormuz. Xi Jinping's state arrival, bilateral and dinner are today.

The Nasdaq-100 opened at its high and never traded over it. The open was 30,706.23, 65 points under Tuesday's high, and it was the session high; the index fell to 30,353.88 before 11:00 New York and closed 30,470.29, down 0.85%. The close is 26 points under 30,496 — Tuesday's low, Tuesday's open and the quarterly band top on which the structural gate was written — and the member count fell to 43.56%, under the 45 the gate also required. Both conditions printed on one close. The daily band top rose to 30,489 as the tape fell, so the close sits 19 under it: the band that was a target on Tuesday is a lid today. All frames are fresh from the 23-September chart set; nothing is carried.
The ten-year closed 5.12%, the highest since July 2007. The chart bar was 4.97 open, 5.14 high, 4.96 low, 5.12 close, a 15bp rise that the wire called the biggest one-day move since 7 April 2025. The two-year rose 15bp to 4.90 and the thirty-year 10bp to 5.40; the five-year touched 5% for the first time since 2007. The drivers were a flash PMI print showing the strongest business activity in over five years and Governor Barr's statement that further hikes are likely needed. The D-fast rate input — a ten-year close over 5.00 — is met again after five sessions under it; the first-withdrawal line at 4.94 is 18 basis points away, not three.
Brent settled $103.08, up 3.9%, ending a five-session decline. Iran's president told the UN General Assembly that the country cannot be made to surrender; Trump backed a US diesel export ban; the API reported a 1.8 million barrel crude build. The settle is 2.08 over the 101 line that the framework's single-gate restore had been written against, and the rule does not ask why: a settle at or over 101 re-imposes R14 step 3, a 20% tactical cap, from the 30% that two settles under it had restored. WTI settled $92.16.
The VIX rose 6.8% on a 0.75% S&P decline. The spot opened 14.16, ran to 15.45 and closed 15.18, reclaiming its daily EMA-5 by three cents and closing under the 20-day at 15.59. The future rose only to 17.68, so the basis that had held over 20% for five sessions halved to 16.5% — the spot came up to the curve, not the other way round. The put/call day-print was 0.75, and Tuesday's 0.63 was revised to 0.47: the complacency print the framework did not see on the day.
Gold closed 4,287.61, under the bracket's short line, with the yield and the dollar both over theirs. The three conditions of the two-way daily-close bracket printed together — gold under 4,291, the ten-year over 5.00, the dollar over its band top — and the short side filled at the close. Gold sits outside the breadth regime and carries no scenario weight; its trade is in Option 07.
Credit did not confirm on a wire print, only on the chart. The JNK render shows 93.97, the first print under 94 of the leg and a tenth close under 95, on a day the ten-year closed at a 2007 high. The framework does not book the shock path's credit leg on a render: a wire close under 94 gives D four points; until it is found, JNK 93.97 is flagged, not booked. The ladders line at 95 is 1.03 away and has not been touched since 9 September.
The oil settle re-imposed the cap but did not open the step-4 watch. The settle is 6.37 under 109.45. The Kyodo-reported seven-day reopening offer stands unanswered, the Saudi East-West restart is still pending, and Trump meets Gulf leaders later this week. A refusal at the UN is the opposite of the signed date the R15 release needs; the headline protocol that strikes every outright tactical index long stays live.
The rate did not produce the second close the shock path wants. One close over 5.00 re-meets the D-fast input and adds weight; a second consecutive close is what moves D to a dead heat with C. The live board has the ten-year at 5.110 into Thursday's session, a basis point under the chart close.
Breadth un-repaired but did not break new ground on the count. The Nasdaq count at 43.56 is back under 45 and has closed under 50 for fourteen sessions; it did not close under 40, so the July-flush analog does not re-enter. The Nasdaq McClellan went back under zero after one positive close, the advance-decline percent closed at −20.79 and reset its three-day repair, the summation indices made new lows and the NYSE high-low index made its nineteenth sub-50 print at a new low. The transports closed under Monday's low and the bank index under 175. None of it is new direction; all of it is the direction the count had already licensed.
Path D rises 6 to 30%. Three of its inputs re-took their lines in one session: the ten-year closed over five, Brent settled over 101, and credit printed under 94 on the chart. It does not take modal because the VIX closed 15.18 and not over the daily band top 17.83, the settle is under the step-4 watch, and the credit break is a render. A second ten-year close over 5.00 or a verified JNK close under 94 gives it four more; a VIX close over 17.83 gives two; any two of those make it modal at 40.
Path C rises 4 to 36% and retakes modal by its own rule. Tuesday's issue wrote that C would retake modal on a daily close under 30,496 with the count under 45. Both printed on the first session after the retest of the June high on a lower monthly momentum reading, and the internals confirmed the price line: transports through Monday's low, banks under 175, the high-low index at a new low, the advance-decline line at −1,610 on its low. C gives modal back on a daily close over 30,583 with the count over 45.
Path B falls 8 to 26%. Both halves of the range case gave way: the breadth half un-repaired in one day and the price half lost the quarterly band top on a close. B keeps 26 because Wednesday's 30,354–30,706 range is a legitimate day's map, no gap printed, and the June high is 310 points over the tape, not three thousand. B takes weight back on a daily close over 30,583 with the count over 45.
Path A falls 2 to 8%. The count fell away from 50, credit fell away from 95, and the record was handed back in a day. Neither leg of the twin gate is within reach; only a signed Hormuz date moves A without them.
Lines that held. Tuesday's line in the sand — 30,496, a holding 30-minute close below moves weight from B to C — printed and was booked. The 24-hour map hit on the Nasdaq-100 for the first time in five sessions: 30,470 sat inside 30,276–31,189, the low held the range floor by 78, and the projected close band missed by 30. The S&P and VIX maps hit; the ten-year and Brent maps missed, by 10bp and $1.08, in the direction the shock path had named.
Structures that paid. Option 05, the VIX long over 14.55 with the S&P under 7,762, filled at about 14.78 on the 10:00 close; the high went 32 cents through the first target and a third was taken at 15.13 for +0.35. Two thirds carry into Thursday marked +0.40. VIX fills cannot be verified inside this pipeline — a standing gap — so the gain is booked at the render and nowhere else. Option 08's short side filled at the gold close on all three conditions and is marked flat at the live print.
Structures that cost. Option 02, the sell-stop on a holding close under 30,496, filled at about 30,440 on the 10:00–10:30 close — the open had already satisfied the 30,583 print. The cash low then pierced the first target, 30,356, by 2.12 points. Under the doctrine that a gain that may not exist is not claimed — the CFD trades some 30 points over cash — that fill is not booked. The position was flat at 15:30 near 30,475 for a cost of about 35 points at quarter size. The structure read the day correctly and was a bar late for a session that made its low before 11:00; the cost is owned.
Missed calls. Option 04, the S&P band-floor sell-stop, required a print at 7,766 before a holding close under 7,756. The S&P opened 7,761.94 — its high, four points short — and fell 67 points without the framework short. Tuesday's Option 03 missed its own qualifier by 1.8 points. Two consecutive misses on the same instrument for the same reason is a design fault, not bad luck: from this issue the S&P qualifier is set on a moving average that moves with the tape, not on a fixed print above the range. Option 06, the pair, sat out a third session: both indices fell together and the ratio's low stopped 0.007 over the trigger. Option 01 and Option 03 never approached their zones and are not booked.
A housekeeping correction. Tuesday's R16 row still carried "Opt-07 exits on a ten-year close over 5.00" — a clause written for the leadership pair that was Option 07 in v9.87, not for the structural short that took the number in v9.88. It is deleted; the structural short's own exits govern, and the ten-year over five is an input to its premise, not a reason to leave it.

Win probability is the framework's estimate that the first target prints before the stop within one day to one week, conditional on the trigger firing; it is not a backtest. It is calibrated to the scenario weights, to how this structure type has behaved across the last thirty days of issues, and to the distance from the last price. Anything at or below 50% is a lower-odds, higher-payoff structure and carries the muted pill. One structure is unconventional: Option 08, a market-neutral pair that a two-way summit headline cannot void. Two structures are managed carries — the VIX long and the gold short — and one, the structural short, is the pre-armed rung that its gate filled in on Wednesday.

The base case is a session that tests Wednesday's low before it tests Wednesday's open: the no-lean range is 30,281–30,659 (378 points, the wider of the last two true ranges, centred on the close) with a projected close of 30,330–30,610 for the Nasdaq-100 and 7,650–7,760 for the S&P; VIX 14.4–16.3, the ten-year 5.02–5.20, Brent 99–106 on the settle. The 30-minute momentum reading is 52 from 83 and the hourly 63 — the record's momentum is spent — but the map has hit once after four upward misses, so it stays at no lean. Reweighting up: a daily close over 30,583 with the count over 45 un-prints the gate and returns modal to B, with 30,682 and 30,706 the lines over it. Down: a holding close under 30,354 is the rollover's next step toward 30,304 and 30,199; a second ten-year close over 5.00 or a verified credit close under 94 puts D level with C. A Xi headline that lifts both indices voids the tactical shorts and not the pair; a signed Hormuz date halves every short.
The staircase is the map: 29,933–30,706, the gap #41 top to Wednesday's open, inside the wider 29,648–30,780, with the daily EMA-5 at 30,199 the week's decision line and gap #42 on the S&P (7,657–7,691) filled inside the week as every cash up-gap since 25 August has been. The week holds the Xi binary today, final Michigan sentiment Friday, the Gulf meetings, and the September monthly close on Wednesday the 30th, which is the monthly momentum verdict. Reweighting up: a daily close over 30,583 with the count over 45 moves C to B; over 30,780 with the count over 50 and credit verified over 95 moves B to A. Down: a daily close under 30,199 takes C to 40 and runs the ladder — 29,933, the fill at 29,648, the 20-week at 29,437, gap #39 at 29,236–29,306 — and a second ten-year close over five or a settle at 109.45 makes D modal.
The verdict is a retest on a lower momentum reading, now printed and turning: the monthly RSI is running 71.77 against the June peak of 77.88 and the August final of 69.74, and the September high of 30,771 stopped 9.75 under the June high. A September close between 30,199 and 30,780 with the RSI under 77.88 locks the lower-peak retest — a higher price high on a lower momentum high with a sub-50 count, which is the rollover path's textbook entry rather than its invalidation. A ten-year at a 2007 high into an October FOMC priced 70% for a hike caps every relief. Central case: 29,236–30,706 into the monthly close, then the resolution toward 28,753 and 27,753. The bull alternative needs five conditions, none met: a signed date, two settles under 101, credit verified over 95, the ten-year under 4.90 and the count over 50. The bear alternative — a settle at 109.45, credit verified under 94 and a VIX close over 21 — runs to the R3 band at 27,199–27,305 inside the month.
Six months out the central case is unchanged: a 27,000–30,800 range with downward drift while the monthly divergence resolves, a hike cycle with one more priced capping the multiple, and a Hormuz reopening as both the largest upside input and the largest sell-the-news for gold, oil and the dollar. The record close and its next-day reversal do not move the drift; a divergence resolves at the high, and the high has now been retested and refused once. The year-end base is conditional on the September close: a close under 30,780 on a monthly RSI under 77.88 — the likelier print after Wednesday — gives 27,500–29,800 for the Nasdaq-100 and 7,100–7,700 for the S&P after a rollover and recovery. A September close over 30,780 with the RSI still under 77.88 raises the near-term high and lowers the year-end base by the size of the eventual resolution; it is not a bull case. Only a monthly close with the RSI over 77.88 retires the read, and that is 6.11 points away.

The record was handed back from the opening print, on the rate and the barrel rather than on anything the Nasdaq did wrong by itself, and the structural gate the framework had pre-armed printed on both its conditions in one session. What repaired on Tuesday un-repaired on Wednesday. The rollover path is modal again at 36% by its own rule; the shock path is six points closer on a 5.12 ten-year, a 103 settle and a credit print that still needs a wire close. The tactical line is 30,583 — a daily close back over it with the count over 45 returns the range path — and the tactical map is 30,354 under the tape and 7,734–7,745 over the S&P. The structural short enters after 10:00 and is the only index position that carries through the Xi summit; everything else is flat by 15:30 New York. The next decision point is the second ten-year close over 5.00, which the framework will book as the shock path drawing level.
