The Nasdaq-100 closed September at 30,408.50 (+0.23%) on its session low as the 10-year closed 5.29% and the S&P 500 slipped 0.25% to 7,651.54. Wednesday's cash close was S&P 500 7,651.54 (−0.25%), Nasdaq-100 30,408.50 (+0.23%) and VIX 16.34 (+1.87%), after Tuesday's 7,670.84, 30,339.33 and 16.04; the Dow lost 0.9%. At 06:37 Singapore Thursday (18:38 New York, the post-close board — Asia had not opened) the Nasdaq-100 CFD was 30,498.8 (+0.30%), the S&P CFD 7,674.2, the VIX future 17.78, December Brent 97.88 and gold 4,155.97. Stocks rose on a softer August PCE and gave it all back in the final hour as yields climbed on a stronger GDP revision and ADP. November Brent expired at $103.50; Tehran confirmed it has Washington's response, contents undisclosed. Nothing was signed.

The month and the quarter closed, and the retest is locked. September finished at 30,408.50, up 3.23%, after a high of 30,770.63 that stopped 9.75 points short of the June record. The monthly RSI closed at 71.65 against June's 77.88: price came back to the high and momentum did not. The quarter closed 5.68 points under its final quarterly band top of 30,414 — back inside the band after an excursion over it. Neither is a timing signal. Both are the structural read confirmed on a closing basis, and the next monthly verdict is 30 October.
Wednesday rallied 222 points on soft inflation and returned all of it in the last hour. The index opened 30,422 with no cash gap, rose to 30,630 by late morning after the August PCE printed 3.4% against 3.7% expected, and then sold into the quarter-end close to finish on its session low. The S&P did the same from 7,723 to 7,651.54 — 71 points — and sits 3.5 points over its 50-day. The NYSE advance-decline line was +638 at the high and −610 at the bell. Tuesday, by contrast, was an inside day: 30,236 to 30,430, a close at 30,339.
The ten-year closed over 5.25. Tuesday's chart close was 5.25 — on the line, which the framework did not count, because the rule is a close over it. Wednesday closed 5.29 after a 5.31 high, with the thirty-year at 5.63, its highest since 2002. The important part is that yields rose through a soft inflation print: they dipped on the PCE and reversed on an upward GDP revision and a hot ADP report. That is escalation-3, and it restores tactical shorts to full size within the cap.
Credit is verified. For five sessions the high-yield ETF printed under 94 on the chart and the framework declined to book it for want of a wire close. State Street's own fund page now shows Monday's official close at 93.16 and Yahoo shows Tuesday's at 92.91; Wednesday's chart reads 92.75 and the option-adjusted spread is 3.08, its first prints over 3.00 of the leg. The shock path's credit input is met and booked — late rather than early, which is the right way round.
The count rose while everything broader fell. The Nasdaq-100 bullish percent closed 40.59, back over 40 after two closes under it, so the July analog exits by its own rule. But both summation indices, the NYSE high-low index and the share of S&P members over their 50-day (21.4%) all made new lows, the transports and the banks closed at new lows for the leg, and the NYSE Composite closed on its low 1.1% over its 200-day. A narrower tape, not a repairing one.
The gate stands. A daily close under 30,496 with the count under 45 printed a fifth time. The un-print needs a daily close over 30,583 with the count over 45; Wednesday's high traded 47 points over that line and the close finished 175 under it. The structural-short licence — the count under 50 — is intact for a nineteenth session.
Oil did not print a line; it changed contracts. November Brent settled 102.59 on Tuesday and expired at 103.50 on Wednesday — the fifth and sixth front-month settles over 101, which keep the 20% cap. December, the front month from Thursday, settled 98.03. Under the roll rule written last week, the December settle counts from Thursday: two settles under 101 restore the 30% cap, which could happen by Friday night with nothing signed. That would be a roll effect as much as a price effect, and it will be reported as such.
Nothing was signed. Qatari mediators carried Washington's response to Doha on Tuesday; Iran's foreign minister briefed the cabinet on it Wednesday and the government did not state its contents. The President denied the reports of sanctions relief — "I offered them NOTHING" — and said the war would end "very soon". A response under review is one side's paper, not a two-side framework report: the clause that trims shorts did not fire, and outright index longs stay struck.
Volatility is still catching up, not leading. The VIX closed 16.34, over its 69-day average for the first time this leg, with its high of 16.61 printed on the closing bar one tick under Monday's. The future's premium over spot narrowed to 8.8%. The line that adds to the shock path is a close over 17.88; it is 1.54 away.
No chart capture was taken and no issue was published for Tuesday's close. Tuesday's figures in this issue are wire closes and the prior-bar values implied by Wednesday's chart headers (close minus change); Tuesday's intraday averages were never captured and are not estimated. Tuesday's published map is scored below from those closes. No map was published for Wednesday, so Wednesday is unscored — it is not counted as a hit or a miss. The structures in Tuesday's issue were written to re-arm daily and are accounted for both sessions.
Path D rises 8 to 42% and takes modal alone. Two of its own rules fired, four points each, both written before the fact: a ten-year close over 5.25, and high-yield credit under 94 on a verified close. Tuesday's issue placed D at 34 and named both lines; the change is the rules printing, not a change of view. D does not take more because the VIX closed 1.54 under its line, December Brent settled under 101 and the soft PCE pared October hike odds. It hands modal back on a ten-year close under 5.25 with a VIX close under 15.77.
Path C falls 4 to 34%. The rollover read was confirmed structurally — the monthly lock, the gate a fifth time — but its near-term inputs eased: the count rose back over 40 and the structural remainder was stopped. The weight moved to D because the rules that fired were D's. C re-takes weight on a daily close under 30,236 with the count back under 40.
Path B falls 4 to 16%. A relief rally on good inflation news was fully reversed by the close, both indices finished on their lows, and the broad indices are weaker than the Nasdaq-100. B holds 16 because the count is rising and the oil cap may ease on the roll. It re-takes weight on a daily close over 30,583 with the count over 45.
Path A holds at 8%. Nothing signed; credit verified under 94; the NYSE under its pre-alert. A rises only on a signed Hormuz date or the twin gate — the count over 50 with high-yield back over 95.
Lines that held. The monthly verdict printed as the likelier case Tuesday's issue described. Tuesday's map scored five of five: Nasdaq-100 30,339 inside 30,100–30,450, S&P 7,671, VIX 16.04, the ten-year 5.25 and Brent 102.59 all inside their ranges. The no-lean rule stands.
The structure that stopped. The last third of the structural short (Option 01), carried from about 30,260 with its stop trailed to 30,500, was stopped on Wednesday's rally: −240 on the third. The whole rung — thirds at 30,414, 30,204 and 30,500 — nets about −113 per unit on an eighth-size position. The tape closed 91 points under that stop the same afternoon. Right on the month, wrong on the hour; claimed in full.
Two fades missed by a point each. Tuesday, the Nasdaq-100 fade (Option 03) needed a 30,431 print; the high was 30,429.97 and the index fell 194. Wednesday, the S&P fade (Option 04) needed 7,724; the high was 7,722.88 and the index fell 71. Both zones were right and both qualifiers sat at the far edge of the zone. These are design misses, named as misses, and nothing is claimed. The rule changes today: a print anywhere inside the named zone qualifies.
Right on the clock, wrong on the gate. The quarter-end close fade (Option 08) required the session high to hold under 30,496. It did not, so the structure was not taken — and the closing hour then sold 222 points, as its thesis said. No fill, no claim. A clock-gated structure will no longer carry a price gate its own thesis can breach.
Structures that cannot be resolved from daily OHLC. The doctrine: a loss that may exist is claimed, a gain that may exist is not. Tuesday's S&P sell-stop (Option 05) probably filled near 7,660 into the 13:16 low of 7,653.55 and was voided on the bounce to 7,682 — claimed at −12 per unit; its first target printed and is not claimed. Tuesday's VIX long (Option 06) has no intraday record at all — claimed at −0.30. On Wednesday both triggers printed only on the final bar, after their cut-offs.
Carried and not triggered. The gold short (Option 07), filled Monday at 4,121.82, is about 34 points underwater and runs to its Thursday flat. Option 02 was not triggered either day.

Win probability is the framework's estimate that the first target prints before the stop within one day to one week, conditional on the trigger firing; it is not a backtest. It is calibrated to the scenario weights, to how this structure type has behaved across the last thirty days of issues, and to the distance from the last price. Anything at or below 50% is a lower-odds, higher-payoff structure and carries the muted pill. New today: a qualifying print is any print inside the named zone. One structure is a carry (the gold short, in its last session) and one, Option 08, is unconventional — keyed to the clock and to yesterday's closing bar rather than to a price level.

The base case is a session inside 30,263–30,554 with a close between 30,300 and 30,520 — the no-lean range, centred on Wednesday's close and 291 points wide. The S&P maps to 7,615–7,690, the VIX to 15.5–17.4, the ten-year to 5.20–5.38 and the December Brent settle to 94–101. The reasoning: the 30-minute and hourly RSIs are neutral at 45 and 49 after the closing fall, the evening board has already walked the index back to the gate at 30,496, and seven resistance lines sit in the 216 points above the close. A rejection in 30,496–30,553 points back to 30,370 and 30,236; a 30-minute close over 30,583 re-opens 30,630. A ten-year close back under 5.25 would withdraw four points from the shock path.
Payrolls arrive Friday into a 5.29 ten-year. The base case is 30,081–30,630 inside 29,933–30,780. Wednesday showed that a soft data point could not hold yields down for a session, so a hot payroll print is the shock path's tape toward 30,081 and the gap top at 29,933, while a soft one tests whether the bond market can rally at all. Weight moves toward the range path on a daily close over 30,583 with the count over 45, or on two December Brent settles under 101 with the ten-year back under 5.25. It moves further to the shock path on an NYSE close under 23,231, a VIX close over 17.88 or a credit spread over 3.50.
The retest is locked: a monthly close 372 under the high on a lower RSI, and a quarter that closed back inside its band. A ten-year over 5.25, a thirty-year at a 2002 high, verified credit weakness and a Fed whose New York president said another increase could be appropriate late this year cap every relief rally. The central range is 29,236–30,630 into mid-October, with the first two weeks of third-quarter earnings the resolution. The upside path needs five conditions, none met: a signed Hormuz date, Brent under 101, high-yield over 95, the ten-year under 4.90 and the count over 50.
Six months out the central case is unchanged: a 27,000–30,800 range with downward drift while the locked monthly divergence resolves. A Hormuz reopening remains both the largest upside input and the largest sell-the-news for the war-bid assets — gold has already lost 6.5% in a month on rates alone. To year-end the base case is 27,500–29,800 for the Nasdaq-100 and 7,100–7,700 for the S&P, conditional on the locked September close. Only a future monthly close with the monthly RSI over 77.88 invalidates the read; the next test is 30 October.
Wednesday's closes and session narrative are from the Associated Press via ABC News, Bloomberg and CNBC; Tuesday's closes and ranges from Yahoo Finance, FRED and CNBC; the PCE detail and yields from CNBC and Trading Economics, with Tuesday's Treasury par curve and the Williams remarks from Investing.com; the Brent settles from Reuters via Euronext (November $103.50, December $98.03) and CNBC (Tuesday $102.59); the high-yield ETF closes from State Street and Yahoo Finance; the Iran diplomacy from CNBC, GlobalSecurity and Gulf News. Every chart value is from Core_Charts_20261001.pdf, Gen 3, captured 07:10 Singapore Thursday and read by manifest label. No capture exists for Tuesday's close: Tuesday's breadth values are implied by Wednesday's chart headers and are labelled as such; the Treasury par curve showed 5.26 for Tuesday against the chart's 5.25, logged, with the chart governing. The Nasdaq-100 percent-over-50-day change field did not update; the 200-day for the NYSE Composite is carried from 23 September; the AAII and NAAIM prints are the 24-Sep and 23-Sep surveys. Carried values are flagged and are not presented as Wednesday prints.
What repaired: the Nasdaq-100 count came back over 40, and the oil cap may ease on the contract roll by Friday. What did not: the month locked a lower momentum peak, the ten-year closed over 5.25 through a soft inflation print, credit is verified under 94, and both indices closed the quarter on their lows with the broad market weaker than the index. The framework's own book lost on the structural remainder and missed two fades by a point, and the rules are changed accordingly. The tactical line is the gate from below — 30,496 to 30,553 — with 30,370 underneath. The next decision points are Thursday's ten-year close against 5.25 and Friday's payrolls.
