LUBATIX TRADER DIGESTFRIDAY · 2 OCTOBER 2026 · THURSDAY US CLOSE · PAYROLLS DAY

The Flush Was Bought and the Book Paid for It: the Nasdaq-100 Closed Five Points Over the Gate at 30,501.56 After a 259-Point Fall, the 10-Year Printed 5.35 and Closed 5.24, and Brent Settled Back Over 101

Thursday's issue said the day's decision point was the ten-year's close against 5.25, and it printed on both sides inside one session: 5.35 by mid-morning, the highest since 2002, and 5.24 at the close. Stocks followed the bond market down and back. The index finished over the line it had closed under for five sessions, while fewer of its members did. Oil took back what the contract roll had given. And the framework's own book sold the morning flush on three structures and was bought against on all three. Those losses are claimed in full below, with the rule changes they produce. The framework signals the shock path still modal, at 38%.

Executive Summary

Overnight in brief

The Nasdaq-100 closed at 30,501.56 (+0.31%) and the S&P 500 at 7,666.45 (+0.19%) after the 10-year yield hit 5.35% and closed 5.24%. The VIX closed 16.39 (+0.31%) after touching 17.59; the Dow added 0.04%. At 06:43 Singapore Friday (18:43 New York, the post-close board — Asia had not opened) the Nasdaq-100 CFD was 30,536.1 (+0.11%), the S&P CFD 7,672.4, the VIX future 18.15, the ten-year 5.254 and gold 4,176.06. Stocks fell early when a factory-prices index came in hot, and recovered as yields reversed. December Brent settled $102.31 (+4.4%) after a report that a third US carrier group is heading to the region. Tehran is still reviewing Washington's response; nothing was signed. Payrolls are due at 08:30 New York.

Framework signal

The framework signals the shock path modal at 38%, down four, because the ten-year closed 5.24 [under 5.25, the framework's third rate-escalation line] while Brent settled back over 101 and credit made a new low; the Nasdaq-100 closed over 30,496 [the gate line] with 39.60% of members on buy signals [the count]. The read stands while the VIX closes over 15.83; a ten-year close under 5.25 together with a VIX close under 15.83 hands modal weight to the rollover path, and a ten-year close back over 5.25 restores the four points.
Called-shot note: Thursday's issue said the oil cap "may ease on the contract roll by Friday". It cannot — the first December settle that counted printed 102.31, over the line, and the count restarts. Booked as a miss. The same issue named the ten-year's close against 5.25 as the decision point; it closed 5.24 and the rule is applied as written. Three of Thursday's structures filled and lost; they are in the Honest Ledger.

What Thursday Changed

The index closed over the gate line for the first time in six sessions. The Nasdaq-100 opened at 30,534 — 125 points over Wednesday's close but inside Wednesday's range, so no cash gap — fell 259 points to 30,275 by late morning, and was bought back roughly 190 points in a single half-hour bar. It printed 30,616, fourteen points under Wednesday's high, and closed at 30,501.56: 5.56 over 30,496. The sequence is read from the 30-minute chart, not from tick data.

The ten-year printed both sides of the rule in one session. The yield opened at 5.29, reached 5.35 after the ISM manufacturing prices-paid index came in at 77.9 against 72 expected — the highest yield since April 2002 — and then fell to close at 5.24. The two-year fell 11 basis points to 4.80 as the market's odds of an October rate increase dropped to 34% from 70% a week ago. A close under 5.25 withdraws the escalation booked on Wednesday. It lasted one session.

Oil took back the roll. December Brent, the front month since Thursday, settled at $102.31, up 4.4%. The Wall Street Journal reported that a third carrier group and about 10,000 sailors and Marines will reach the region by the end of November; Chinese refiners were reported to have suspended most fuel exports. The first settle that counted toward restoring the 30% cap printed over 101 instead.

The S&P's 50-day was lost and recovered. The low of 7,616.78 went 35 points under the 50-day average; the close of 7,666.45 was two cents under the open and 15 over the average. The high stopped six points beneath a stack of five averages between 7,691 and 7,702.

The broad market stopped falling for a day. NYSE advancers beat decliners by 396 after being 1,109 behind at the low — the first positive close since 25 September. The NYSE Composite came within 47 points of its 200-day average and closed green. That average reads 23,286 on this chart set, 55 points higher than the figure carried since 23 September: the line was closer than this digest had been saying.

What Thursday Did Not Change

Breadth underneath the index. The Nasdaq-100 bullish percent fell to 39.60, back under 40 after one close above it, so the July analog re-enters by its own rule. The S&P's count fell to 31.40, a new low. Both summation indices and the NYSE high-low index made new lows, and the Nasdaq-100 had two more members at 52-week lows than at highs — on an up-close.

The gate. It did not print a sixth time, because the close was over the line. It did not un-print either: that needs a daily close over 30,583 with the count over 45, and Thursday's close was 81 points and five and a half count-points short. The structural-short licence — the count under 50 — is intact for a twentieth session.

Credit. The high-yield ETF closed at 92.30 after a low of 91.71, both new lows for the leg, on a day equities finished higher. The spread stands at 3.12. Nothing new is booked — that rule fired on Wednesday — but credit took no part in the afternoon recovery. Thursday's figure is the chart print; a wire close was not re-checked this session.

Diplomacy. Tehran is reviewing the response Qatar delivered on Wednesday, with the disagreement reported as one of sequencing. The President said the decision to strike or negotiate comes "very soon". At least three tankers were attacked in the strait this week. Nothing was signed, so outright index longs stay struck.

Volatility. The VIX ran from 16.33 to 17.59 in ninety minutes and closed at 16.39, under its 100-day average a fourth session. The future kept more of the move than the spot did. The line that adds to the shock path, a close over 17.94, was approached to within 0.35 and refused.

The Four Paths — Reweighted

D · Shock (oil / rates / credit)
38% (42)
C · Structural rollover
36% (34)
B · Range / rotation
18% (16)
A · Bull continuation
8% (8)

Path D falls 4 to 38% and stays modal. Thursday's issue placed D at 42 and said a ten-year close under 5.25 would withdraw four points; it closed 5.24 and the four points come off. D keeps the lead because the hand-back also needed a VIX close under the 20-day, which did not print, and because the other shock inputs worsened: a 24-year high in the intraday yield, Brent back over 101, credit at a new low. The live ten-year is 5.254; a close over 5.25 after payrolls restores the four.

Path C rises 2 to 36%. The count is back under 40 and four broad series made new lows on a day the index rose. The September monthly lock is unchanged. C takes modal on a daily close under 30,236 with the count under 40.

Path B rises 2 to 18%. A 259-point fall on the worst yield print in a generation was bought back to a close over the gate, the NYSE held its 200-day, and rate-hike odds halved in a week. B takes no more because the high was lower than Wednesday's and the oil restore cannot fire. It re-takes weight on a daily close over 30,583 with the count over 45.

Path A holds at 8%. Nothing signed. A rises only on a signed Hormuz date or the twin gate — the count over 50 with high-yield back over 95.

The Honest Ledger

Lines that held. Thursday's map scored four of five: the Nasdaq-100 close (30,501.56 inside 30,300–30,520), the S&P, the VIX and the ten-year all landed inside their bands. The index's intraday range was broken on the top side by 62 points at the 30,616 high. Brent missed: 102.31 against a 94–101 band.

The call that missed. The Bottom Line of Thursday's issue said the oil cap "may ease on the contract roll by Friday". The first counted December settle printed over the line. The restore now needs two consecutive settles under 101, Monday at the earliest.

Structures that stopped. The doctrine: a loss that may exist is claimed, a gain that may not exist is not. The Nasdaq-100 sell-stop (Option 02) filled near 30,350 on the first qualifying close under 30,370 — 183 points into the fall — and the one-bar rally went through its 30,480 stop: −130 per unit, claimed. Its first target, 30,289, was printed by the session low, but the chart cannot prove the low came after the fill, so nothing is claimed for it. The S&P sell-stop (Option 05) filled near 7,638; the afternoon high of 7,684.75 pierced its stop by three-quarters of a point: −46, claimed. The VIX long (Option 06) filled near 17.10, almost half a point over its trigger, into a spike that was sold: −0.65 at the 15:30 flat, claimed. VIX fills cannot be verified inside this pipeline.

The carry that closed. The gold short (Option 07), filled Monday at 4,121.82, reached its Thursday flat near 4,172: −50 per unit. The stop was never touched and no target printed.

Right on the level, kept out by a clause. The un-print fade (Option 03) saw its whole setup — a print inside 30,583–30,630, a rejection, a close 115 points under the high. It was not taken, because the one-short-per-index clause applied once Option 02 had filled. No claim. The clause stays: it is the cost of not doubling a losing day.

Not triggered. Option 01 never saw a close back under the gate; Option 04's zone was not reached; Option 08's two-hour window passed with the index 100 points beneath its zone.

What changes. Three structures sold weakness that was already extended. A first-shelf sell-stop will no longer arm once the session has fallen more than 60% of the prior day's range from its open; a breakout entry will not be taken when its qualifying close sits too far past the trigger; and the S&P 50-day sell-stop, bought back twice in three sessions, is retired.

Friday execution rule. Payrolls print at 08:30 New York with the ten-year sitting on its line. The opening bar is not traded. Every index and VIX structure arms on the first qualifying 30-minute close after 10:00 — ninety minutes after the number. One tactical short per index; if the structural rung fills on a bar, the tactical on that bar stands down. Everything tactical is flat by 15:30 ahead of a weekend with Tehran's answer pending. The gold bracket is judged at the daily close only.

Step 9 — Trade Structures

Leveraged retail sizing. This plan does not prescribe position size in currency. The percentages are book-risk allocations under the framework's 20% tactical cap (R14 step 3, which stands until two consecutive December Brent settles print under 101): a "0.25%" structure risks a quarter of a percent of book equity between entry and stop, and a leveraged CFD account at up to 200× can express that with a fraction of margin. With the ten-year back under 5.25, tactical shorts return to half size; a close back over it restores full size the next session. The halving rule applies to any long. A trigger gapped through by more than one percent is half size. Nothing is entered on the opening bar.

Win probability is the framework's estimate that the first target prints before the stop within one day to one week, conditional on the trigger firing; it is not a backtest. It is calibrated to the scenario weights, to how each structure type has behaved across the last thirty days of issues — sell-stops into weakness lost three times this week and are marked down — and to the distance from the last price. Anything at or below 50% is a lower-odds, higher-payoff structure and carries the muted pill. Options 07 and 08 are two sides of one gold bracket; only one can fill. Option 08 is the unconventional structure.

Entry
USTECH CFD, short 0.125% (structural, eighth size) on the first 30-minute close after 10:00 New York back under 30,496 — the gate line the index closed 5.56 over on Thursday — and only after the cash session has traded at or over 30,516 (the 30-minute EMA-5). A 30-minute close over 30,630 before the trigger voids the day. Exhaustion rule: not armed if the session has already fallen more than 205 points from its open at the trigger bar. Gap clause: a cash open under 30,496 is not chased — the structure waits for a 30,516 print and the close back under, or stands down; an open under 30,414 stands it down.
Stop
30,672 — outside Wednesday's high 30,630, Thursday's high 30,616 and the 30-minute band top 30,660, the three lids a failed reclaim must stay under. No open gap sits between entry and stop.

Why
Thursday's close over the gate is the first in six sessions and came with the count back under 40 and two net new lows among the members — a reclaim on price that the members did not sign. A close back under the line after payrolls is that reclaim failing, with the September monthly lock (RSI 71.65 against 77.88) behind it. The odds are under half because a 259-point fall was bought back in one bar on Thursday and the same buyers are still there.

USTECH CFD, short 0.25% (half tactical size — escalation-3 is withdrawn) at 30,583–30,630 — the gate un-print line up to Wednesday's high — only on a 30-minute rejection close back under 30,583 after a print inside the zone made after 10:00 New York. Why
the zone has rejected two sessions running — 30,630 on Wednesday, 30,616 on Thursday — and Thursday's rejection printed the structure's whole first target while the framework sat out under its own mutual-exclusion clause. A third failure under a lower high is the best-defined level on the map. The odds are at half, not over it, because payrolls can gap the tape through the zone and a second close over 30,583 is the structural backstop.

NDX — the three-line shelf: sell a holding close under 30,412 after a 30,446 print, with the exhaustion rule
Entry
USTECH CFD, sell-stop 0.25% on the first 30-minute close after 10:00 New York that holds under 30,412 — where the daily EMA-5 30,414, the final Q3 band top 30,414 and the 30-minute 50-average 30,412 coincide — and only after the cash session has traded at or over 30,446 (the hourly 50-average). Exhaustion rule: not armed if the session has already fallen more than 205 points from its open at the trigger bar. Void on a next-bar close back over 30,446. Gap clause: a cash open under 30,412 fills on the first post-10:00 close that holds under it only after a 30,446 print, at 0.125%, first target rolled to the second; an open under 30,275 stands the structure down.
Stop
30,498 — outside the gate line 30,496 and the stack beneath it (the hourly EMA-5 30,490, the 30-minute EMA-14 30,485 and 20-average 30,481). It sits inside no gap.
Targets
30,371 · 30,302 · 30,275
Win prob.
~44% to 30,371 · ~34% to 30,302 · ~28% to flat (30,275). Conditional on the holding close after a 30,446 print; reward-to-risk about 0.4:1 on the first target from 30,405 against the 93-point stop, 1.1:1 on the second, 1.4:1 on the flat.
Why
three structural lines sit on one price and Thursday's bounce launched from under it. Thursday's version of this structure lost 130 points because it sold 183 points into a fall; the exhaustion rule is the repair, and it will also keep the structure out of some moves that work. The odds are under half for that reason and because the size is halved.

SPX — the lid fade with the bank rung: sell a rejection close back under 7,691 after a print inside 7,691–7,702
Entry
US500 CFD, short 0.25% plus the 0.125% bank rung (the bank index closed 169.67, a fourth close under 175) at 7,691–7,702 — the 30-minute 69-average 7,691, the hourly 50-average 7,696, the daily 10-average 7,701, the 30-minute 100-average 7,701 and the hourly 69-average 7,702 — only on a 30-minute rejection close back under 7,691 after a print inside the zone made after 10:00 New York, with both counts under 45 (31.40 / 39.60 — met). A 30-minute close over 7,718 before the rejection voids the day.
Stop
7,728 — outside Wednesday's high 7,722.88 and the hourly band top 7,726: beyond the lid the rejection must fail under.
Targets
7,676 · 7,667 · 7,651
Win prob.
~52% to 7,676 · ~44% to 7,667 · ~30% to flat (7,651). Conditional on the rejection close; reward-to-risk about 0.3:1 on the first target from 7,689 against the 39-point stop, 0.6:1 on the second, 1.0:1 on the flat — a poor ratio stated plainly.
Why
the S&P is the weaker index — its bullish percent made a new low at 31.40 on a green close, its week is -0.99%, and five averages sit in eleven points just over Thursday's high. Thursday's rally stopped six points under this stack. The odds sit just over half because the zone is dense and untested; the payoff is small because the first target is the average cluster directly beneath.

SPX — Thursday's low broken: sell a holding close under 7,616 after a 7,640 print, half size
Entry
US500 CFD, sell-stop 0.125% (the bought-twice rule halves it) on the first 30-minute close after 10:00 New York that holds under 7,616 — Thursday's low 7,616.78 and the 30-minute band floor 7,616 — and only after the cash session has traded at or over 7,640 (the old all-time high). Void on a next-bar close back over 7,629. Gap clause: a cash open under 7,616 fills on the first post-10:00 close that holds under it after a 7,629 print, first target rolled to the second; an open under 7,600 stands the structure down. A break-of-prior-low structure is exempt from the exhaustion rule and pays for the exemption in size.
Stop
7,652 — back over the 50-day 7,651.35, the shelf a real break must stay under. The filled 4-August band (7,600.5–7,629) sits under the entry and is no longer a magnet.
Targets
7,600 · 7,575 · 7,562
Win prob.
~42% to 7,600 · ~32% to 7,575 · ~24% to flat (7,562). Conditional on the holding close after a 7,640 print; reward-to-risk about 0.4:1 on the first target from 7,614 against the 38-point stop, 1.0:1 on the second, 1.4:1 on the flat.
Why
the 50-day sell-stop is retired — it was bought back twice in three sessions and both losses are claimed. What replaces it keys to the low those buyers defended: a holding close under 7,616 means Thursday's dip-buyers are underwater, with the 69-day 7,607, the 20-week 7,575 and the 100-day 7,562 beneath. The odds are low because this shelf has been bought on every touch this leg.

VIX — the doorway long with a distance cap: buy a 30-minute close over 16.63 with the S&P under 7,671, no entry over 17.03
Entry
VIX CFD, long 0.25% on the first 30-minute close after 10:00 New York over 16.63 — the 100-day — with the S&P under 7,671 (its 20-day) on the same bar. Trigger-distance cap: no entry if that qualifying close is over 17.03 (more than 0.40 beyond the trigger); the structure then waits for a pullback close between 16.63 and 17.03 or stands down. No add. Gap clause: a cash open over 16.63 fills at half size on the first post-10:00 close that holds over it inside the cap, first target rolled to the second.
Stop
15.88 — under the daily EMA-5 16.05 and the 50-day 15.92, outside the stack a real breakout must hold over.
Targets
17.34 · 17.59 · 17.94
Win prob.
~42% to 17.34 · ~34% to 17.59 · ~22% to flat (17.94). Conditional on the close over 16.63 inside the cap with the S&P under 7,671; reward-to-risk about 0.8:1 on the first target from 16.70 against the 0.82 stop distance, 1.1:1 on the second, 1.5:1 on the flat.
Why
Thursday proved the doorway opens — 16.33 to 17.59 in ninety minutes — and proved that buying it late loses: the fill came 0.46 over the trigger and the spike was sold. The cap is the repair. The future kept the move (premium back to 10.7%) and the VVIX rose. The odds are low because the spot has closed under its 100-day four sessions running.

XAUUSD — the bracket, short side: sell a daily close under 4,139 with a chase cap at 4,077
Entry
XAUUSD CFD, short 0.25% at the daily close on the first daily close under 4,139 — Thursday's low 4,139.34, the floor of the three-session shelf — with the ten-year closing over 5.00 the same day (daily-close basis; no 30-minute gold record in the capture). Chase cap: no fill if that close is under 4,077 (more than 1.5% through the trigger) — the lesson of the 28-September fill. One side of a bracket: void if Option 08 has filled. Gap clause: a Monday open back over 4,172 halves the position at the first hourly close.
Stop

Targets

Win prob.
~40% to 4,111 · ~28% to 4,048 · ~18% to flat (4,000). Conditional on the daily close under 4,139 inside the cap; reward-to-risk about 0.3:1 on the first target from 4,130 against the 64-point stop, 1.3:1 on the second, 2.0:1 on the flat.
Why
the licence is intact — a seventh ten-year close over five and the dollar index at 102.04 with its RSI at 77 — and gold sits under every daily average with the monthly EMA-14 4,154 just below. The last gold short lost 50 points because it filled at the bottom of a 3.8% bar; this one has a cap. The odds are low because gold held 4,139 through a 5.35 yield print.

XAUUSD — the bracket, long side: buy a daily close over 4,193 with Brent settling at or over 101 (unconventional)
Entry
XAUUSD CFD, long 0.125% (quarter of tactical size: the halving rule for longs, halved again for the weekend carry) at the daily close on the first daily close over 4,193 — Thursday's high 4,192.98 and the daily EMA-5 4,190 — and only if December Brent settles at or over 101 the same day. Chase cap: no fill if the close is over 4,256 (the daily 10-average and EMA-14). One side of a bracket: void if Option 07 has filled. Gap clause: a Monday open under 4,172 halves the position at the first hourly close.
Stop

Targets

~38% to 4,219 · ~28% to 4,248 · ~18% to flat (4,283). Conditional on the daily close over 4,193 with a Brent settle at or over 101; reward-to-risk about 0.3:1 on the first target from 4,200 against the 61-point stop, 0.8:1 on the second, 1.4:1 on the flat.
Why
Unconventional — it runs against the framework's own rate licence and it carries a weekend. Gold lost 6.5% in September on rates alone while oil rose 14%; the war bid has been absent from it. A third carrier group, a President who says the strike-or-negotiate decision comes 'very soon' and a barrel back over 101 are the conditions under which that bid returns over a weekend, and a daily close over the shelf is the print that says it has. The odds are the lowest of the eight because a ten-year over five is still the stronger force.

Market Path

Next 24 hours

The base case is a session inside 30,331–30,672 with a close between 30,390 and 30,615 — the no-lean range, centred on Thursday's close and 342 points wide, Thursday's own range. The S&P maps to 7,625–7,705, the VIX to 15.4–17.6, the ten-year to 5.14–5.34 and the December Brent settle to 98–106. The reasoning: both intraday momentum readings are neutral at 53; the index sits between the gate at 30,496 and a zone that has rejected it twice; and the bond market, which set Thursday's direction both ways, is parked on its line ahead of the jobs number. A ten-year close over 5.25 returns four points to the shock path; a daily close over 30,583 with the count over 45 moves weight to the range path.

One week

The base case is 30,081–30,630 inside 29,933–30,780. The week turns on which side of 5.25 the ten-year settles and on whether Brent can print two settles under 101 with a carrier group at sea. Weight moves toward the range path on a close over 30,583 with the count over 45. It moves to the rollover path on a daily close under 30,236 with the count under 40, and further to the shock path on an NYSE close under 23,286, a VIX close over 17.94 or a credit spread over 3.50.

One month

The September close locked a lower momentum peak on a price retest, and one session of October has not altered it. The central range is 29,236–30,630 into mid-October, with third-quarter earnings from about the 13th, CPI on the 14th and the Fed on the 27th–28th. The offset to a 24-year high in yields is a market that has halved its odds of an October increase. The upside path still needs five conditions, none met: a signed Hormuz date, Brent under 101, high-yield over 95, the ten-year under 4.90 and the count over 50.

Six months and year-end

Six months out the central case is a 27,000–30,800 range with downward drift while the monthly divergence resolves. A Hormuz reopening remains the largest upside input and the largest sell-the-news for the war-bid assets; a return to strikes after the midterms, which the Journal has reported as the President's expectation, is the largest downside input. To year-end the base case is 27,500–29,800 for the Nasdaq-100 and 7,100–7,700 for the S&P. Only a future monthly close with the monthly RSI over 77.88 invalidates the read; the next test is 30 October.

Sources and Data Discipline

Thursday's closes and session narrative are from CNBC, Yahoo Finance, TheStreet and Investrade; the ten-year's range, the ISM prices-paid figure and the rate-hike odds from CNBC, Yahoo Finance and Trading Economics; the Brent and WTI settles and the carrier report from CNBC, Reuters via Fox News and Financial News; the diplomatic track from GlobalSecurity. Early-Thursday reports of Brent near $97 preceded the carrier report and are superseded by the settle. Every chart value is from Core_Charts_20261002.pdf, Gen 3, captured 06:20 Singapore Friday and read by manifest label; live prices from the 06:43 capture. Intraday sequences and the three claimed fills are read from the 30-minute chart images, not tick data. The capture flagged Brent up 5% against WTI up 0.2% as a possible anomaly; the wire settles resolve it. The high-yield spread is a next-business-day series (3.12 is 30 September). The put-call header implies a revision to Wednesday's print that is flagged, not restated. No payrolls consensus was sourced this session and none is quoted. No values are carried in this issue, and none are presented as Thursday prints that are not.

The Bottom Line

What repaired: the index closed over its gate line, the ten-year closed back under its escalation line, and the broad market had its first positive day in four. What did not: the count fell back under 40, four broad series and credit made new lows, Brent settled back over 101 on a military report, and the yield that closed at 5.24 had printed 5.35 hours earlier. The framework's book sold the flush three times and lost three times, and the rules are tightened accordingly. The tactical lines are 30,583–30,630 above and 30,412 below. The next decision point is the ten-year's close against 5.25 after this morning's payrolls — and then a weekend with Tehran's answer outstanding.
