The Nasdaq-100 closed at a record 31,076.44 (+0.87%) and the S&P 500 at 7,773.95 (+0.66%) as the 10-year yield closed 5.31%, its highest since 2002. The VIX rose 1.4% to 15.52 and the Dow added 0.18%; ISM services printed 54.9, in line. December Brent settled $100.32 (−1.9%), its first settle under 101, as Gulf exports recovered; diplomats were still exchanging messages and nothing was signed. At 06:42 Singapore Tuesday (18:42 New York Monday — Asia had not opened) the Nasdaq-100 CFD was 31,086.3 (+0.03%), the S&P CFD 7,780.6, the ten-year 5.306 and gold 4,144.71.

The Nasdaq-100 closed at a second record, over Friday's high. The index opened at 30,813 inside Friday's range — no cash gap — and its low of 30,798 came in the first minutes, ten points under Friday's close. The 10:30 bar, which contained the ISM services number, carried it into the 30,919–31,018 band this digest had marked for a fade; no half-hour bar closed back under 30,919. From early afternoon the half-hour closes were over 31,018, Friday's all-time high, and the last hour printed 31,117.36. The close was 31,076.44. The sequence is read from the 30-minute chart, not from tick data.
The count followed. The Nasdaq-100 bullish percent — the share of members on point-and-figure buy signals — rose 3.96 to 45.54, four net new buy signals and its first close over 45 in nine sessions. The share of members over their 50-day average, which fell on Friday's record, rose five points to 48.5% and closed on its high. At the open 39 of every 100 members were up; at the bell 62 were. Friday's rally sold the members as it went. Monday's bought them.
The ten-year closed at its highest since April 2002. The yield closed at 5.31% after a 5.35 high, a second close over the 5.25 line, with the thirty-year at 5.66%. The ISM services index printed 54.9 against 55 expected, with its prices and employment components higher. The two-year fell two basis points, so the curve steepened: this was the long end repricing, with the euro at its weakest since May 2025 on European fiscal worries, more than a change in rate-hike odds. No fresh hike-odds figure was sourced on Monday.
Oil settled under the line for the first time on this contract. December Brent settled at $100.32, down 1.9%. Shipping data showed Middle East crude exports over pre-war levels on four of the last seven days of September, the G7 release is arriving, Saudi Aramco cut its November prices for Asia and OPEC+ left quotas unchanged. It is the first of the two consecutive settles under 101 that restore the framework's 30% cap.
The S&P 500 reached its daily band top. It opened inside Friday's range, closed its 10:30 bar over Friday's high and printed 7,794.35 — on the upper daily Bollinger band at 7,793 and 22 points under the August record high of 7,816.70 — before closing at 7,773.95. A wire recap ranks that the third-highest close on record. That contradicts a label this digest has carried: see the ledger.
The broad market. More NYSE issues fell than rose: the advance-decline line closed at −91 on a day two Nasdaq indices closed at records. Both summation indices fell again, the Nasdaq one to a new low. The S&P's own bullish percent is 32.40, barely changed. The transports lost 1.1% and closed back under 20,000 one session after reclaiming it. The NYSE Composite traded 65 points over its pre-alert line and closed 3.4 under it. The breadth repair is, so far, a Nasdaq-100 event.
The monthly divergence. October's running bar holds a higher price than June's on a monthly RSI of 72.95 against June's 77.88. The reading rose half a point on Monday and is 4.93 from the level that would retire this framework's structural read. The verdict is the monthly close on 30 October.
Volatility. The VIX rose 1.4% to 15.52 on a record close. It opened on Friday's high at 16.24 and never traded under 15.48. The front future eased to 17.43, a 12% premium to the spot. It adds no weight to any path; it is why the volatility structure stays in the set.
Credit. The high-yield ETF added thirteen cents to 92.52, its eighteenth close under 95, and the latest spread print narrowed fourteen basis points to 3.10 — the first narrowing in five prints. That is an easing, not a repair: the line that re-opens the framework's buy ladders is 95.
Diplomacy. Monday brought no confirmed breakthrough. Messages are still passing through mediators, with the sides reported to agree on the steps and disagree on their order; Iran's parliament speaker repeated on Sunday that the strait stays closed until seven conditions are met, and Saudi-backed forces opened a ground operation against the Houthis in Yemen. Nothing was signed, so outright index longs stay struck.
Path D falls 2 to 38% and stays modal. Two of its inputs eased together: the first December Brent settle under 101 and a narrower credit spread. It keeps the lead because its rate input worsened — a 5.31 close, the highest in 24 years, on an unremarkable data print — and because volatility rose and the NYSE's advance-decline line closed negative. A record tape under a shock-modal matrix remains an uncomfortable pairing and is stated as one. The gap is narrowing: ten points over the range path, from eighteen. D loses four on a ten-year close under 5.25 and two on a second Brent settle under 101.
Path C falls 4 to 26%. Monday's issue wrote the line: a daily close over 31,018 with the count over 45 takes C to 26. It keeps that much because the structure under the index is unrepaired — the count under 50 for a twenty-second session, fewer than half the members over their 50-day at an all-time high, the summations still falling, the monthly reading under June's. It re-takes four on a daily close back under 31,018 with the count back under 45.
Path B rises 6 to 28%. Both halves of its rule printed on one close: price over 31,018 and the count over 45. On 25 September the price half printed alone and was handed back in a session; on Friday it printed alone again; on Monday the breadth half arrived. B overtakes C for the first time since the 23 September issue. It takes no more because the NYSE did not confirm.
Path A holds at 8%. Two records are not this path's rule. It rises on a signed Hormuz date or the twin gate — the count over 50 with high-yield back over 95. The count is 4.46 from the first; credit is 2.48 from the second.
The map missed on the upside again. Monday's 24-hour map scored three of five. The VIX (15.52 inside 14.6–16.3), the ten-year (5.31 inside 5.18–5.38) and Brent (100.32 inside 98–106) hit. The Nasdaq-100 closed 101 points over the top of its projected band and its high went 51 over the top of the full range; the S&P closed 19 over. That is two sessions running in which both indices missed in the direction opposite the modal path. The no-lean rule stands, with one change: a third consecutive same-side miss widens the band to one and a half times the true range.
The lean that was wrong. Monday's Bottom Line asked whether the count could reach 45 before the price half was handed back a second time, and the framework signal described the record as the price half of the range rule without its breadth half. The lean in both was that breadth would not follow. It followed in one session. Booked as a miss.
The calls that held. Monday's issue said a close over 30,583 was the base case and would retire the gate-keyed structural short; it printed, and that structure — flat, never filled last week — is retired under the price-only backstop written on 28 September. The same issue wrote the reweighting line for a close over 31,018 with the count over 45, and it is applied as written.
Structures: none filled, a second session. The record-band fade (Option 01) saw price enter its zone at 10:30 and never close back under it; closes over 31,018 voided it. The sell-stops (Options 02, 03, 05) sat 27 to 182 points under the session lows. The VIX long (Option 06) needed the S&P under 7,700 and the low was 7,727.59. Gold (Options 07 and 08) undercut the 4,125 line by $1.79 and closed $18 over it: no close under 4,125, no close over 4,175.
Not triggered by two points. The S&P fade (Option 04) needed a 30-minute close back under 7,754 after a print inside 7,754–7,771. The 10:30 bar closed at about 7,755; the next two closes read about 7,756–7,757 on the chart image, with one wick to 7,746. No rejection close is read, and later closes over 7,771 voided the day. The margin is two to three points on an image that resolves about one. Had that close printed, the short would have been stopped at 7,786 for a 35-point loss. It is not booked, and the margin is disclosed rather than rounded.
A label withdrawn. This digest has called 7,771 the S&P's "record close" in its levels since September. A wire recap ranks Monday's 7,773.95 as the third-highest close ever, which cannot be true if 7,771 was the record. The label is wrong and is withdrawn; the August intraday high of 7,816.70, read from the quarterly chart, is the reference.
The cost of standing aside. Outright index longs have been struck under the headline protocol through two sessions in which the Nasdaq-100 rose 1.9% to two records. The NYSE high-low bounce condition, live for thirteen sessions, is struck with them. That is an opportunity cost and it belongs here. The rule requires a signature, and there is none.

Win probability is the framework's estimate that the first target prints before the stop within one day to one week, conditional on the trigger firing; it is not a backtest. It is calibrated to the scenario weights, to how each structure type has behaved across the last thirty days of issues — sell-stops into weakness lost three times last week and nothing has filled in two sessions of rising prices — and to the distance from the last price. All eight sit under 50% and carry the muted pill: lower-odds, higher-payoff structures on a tape at a record. Options 07 and 08 are two sides of one gold bracket; only one can fill. Two structures are unconventional: Option 03, a daily-close breadth-confirmed short entered a session late, and Option 08, a failed-break long.

The base case is a session inside 30,818–31,334 with a close between 30,910 and 31,245 — the no-lean range, centred on Monday's close and 516 points wide, the wider of the last two true ranges. The S&P maps to 7,730–7,818 with a close of 7,741–7,806, the VIX to 14.7–16.5, the ten-year to 5.21–5.41 and the December Brent settle to 96–104. The reasoning: both intraday momentum readings are at 70, where on Friday night they had reset to 60; the close sits 41 points under the high and 58 over the old one; the weekly and 30-minute band tops are 77 to 94 points overhead; and the ten-year is at a 24-year closing high. A hold of 31,018 keeps the range path's step. A daily close back under it with the count under 45 returns four points to the rollover path; a second Brent settle under 101 takes two more off the shock path.
The base case is 30,798–31,170 inside 30,616–31,342. The week decides whether the broad market follows the Nasdaq-100's count: an NYSE oscillator back over zero, the NYSE Composite back over 23,792, or an advance-decline close over +800 would each say so. Fed minutes are due Wednesday and the sentiment surveys Thursday. Weight moves further to the range path on a count close over 50. It moves to the rollover path on a daily close under 31,018 with the count under 45, and makes it modal on a daily close under 30,583; to the shock path on an NYSE close under 23,304, a VIX close over 17.85 or a credit spread over 3.50.
October carries a higher price than June on a lower monthly momentum reading, now with the count turning up beneath it. The central range is 29,984–31,342 into mid-October, with third-quarter earnings from about the 13th, CPI on the 14th and the Fed on the 27th–28th. A ten-year at 5.31 is the cap on every multiple in that window. The upside path still needs five conditions, and only a first step toward one of them has been taken: a signed Hormuz date, two Brent settles under 101, high-yield over 95, the ten-year under 4.90 and the count over 50.
Six months out the central case is a 27,000–31,400 range with downward drift while the monthly divergence resolves; the top of that range is lifted another 200 points because Monday printed within 83 of the old one. A Hormuz reopening remains the largest upside input and the largest sell-the-news for the war-bid assets; a return to strikes is the largest downside input. To year-end the conditional base case stays 27,500–29,800 for the Nasdaq-100 and 7,100–7,700 for the S&P. The index is 1,276 points over the top of that band today. The band is a framework output conditional on the divergence holding, not a forecast; it is withdrawn if October closes over 31,117 with the monthly RSI over 77.88, and the distance is stated in every issue until then.
Monday's closes, the ISM services detail and the session narrative are from CNBC, Yahoo Finance, TheStreet, Bloomberg and Stocktwits; the ten-year's 24-year high and the third-highest-close ranking from The Wall Street Republic; the Brent and WTI settles and the export data from CNBC, with the flow report from OilPrice.com and the OPEC+ and Yemen notes from Trading Economics; the diplomatic track from The Levant Files. Every chart value is from Core_Charts_20261006.pdf, Gen 3, 55 of 55 core charts resolved by manifest label, captured 06:16 Singapore Tuesday; live prices from the 06:42 capture. Intraday sequences, including the two-to-three-point margin on Option 04, are read from the 30-minute chart images against the session's open and close, not from tick data. The Brent and gold charts are stamped 18:19 Monday; the Brent settle is the wire's. The high-yield spread is a next-business-day series (3.10 is 2 October). The rate-hike odds were not re-sourced and no figure is quoted. The sentiment surveys are last week's prints, carried. The S&P "record close" label is withdrawn as described in the ledger. Carried values are not presented as Monday prints.
What repaired: the Nasdaq-100 closed at a second record over Friday's high, its count crossed 45 for the first time in nine sessions, Brent settled under 101 and the credit spread narrowed. What did not: the ten-year closed at its highest since 2002, more NYSE shares fell than rose, the summations made new lows, volatility rose and nothing was signed. The range path takes its full step by rule and passes the rollover path; the shock path leads by ten. The framework leaned against the count and was wrong inside a session, its map missed on the upside again and its book did not trade — all owned. The tactical lines are 31,117–31,170 above and 30,998 below. The next decision points are Tuesday's Brent settle against 101 and whether the count holds 45 on a close over 31,018.
