LUBATIX TRADER DIGESTWEDNESDAY · 7 OCTOBER 2026 · TUESDAY US CLOSE · SPECIAL SECTION: WHY THE RECORD, AND THE ODDS OF ANOTHER

A Third Record With a Gap Beneath It: the Nasdaq-100 Closed 31,224.47 and the S&P 500 Took Out Its August High, the NYSE's Breadth Oscillator Crossed Zero and Brent Settled Under 101 Again — While the 10-Year Held Over 5.25 and Nothing Was Signed

Tuesday's issue named three prints that would show the broad market following the Nasdaq-100's breadth count. Two arrived in one session: the NYSE oscillator closed over zero for the first time in thirty-six sessions and the NYSE Composite closed back over its pre-alert line. The index itself gapped to a third record and, for the first time in the run, closed under its open. Oil gave the framework its second settle under 101; the bond market did not give it a close under 5.25. This issue also answers a reader's question directly — why the record, and what the odds are of another. The framework signals the shock path still modal at 36%, with its lead over the range path cut to four points.

Executive Summary

Overnight in brief

The Nasdaq-100 closed at a third straight record, 31,224.47 (+0.48%), and the S&P 500 at its first record close since August, 7,818.93 (+0.58%). The VIX fell 3.3% to 15.01 and the ten-year eased to 5.29%, still over 5.25. December Brent settled $100.58, a second settle under 101; tankers were struck again and nothing was signed. At 06:43 Singapore Wednesday (18:43 New York Tuesday) the Nasdaq-100 CFD was 31,249.4 (+0.08%), the S&P CFD 7,828.7 and gold 4,163.0.

Framework signal

The framework signals the shock path modal at 36% while the ten-year closes over 5.25 [its third rate-escalation line] with no signed Hormuz date, and lifts the range path to 32% on the S&P's close over 7,817 and the NYSE oscillator [NYMO, advancing against declining shares] over zero; a ten-year close under 5.25 retires the read and makes the range path modal.
Called-shot note: both lines Tuesday's issue wrote — a second Brent settle under 101, an S&P close over 7,817 — printed and are applied. The map scored four of five; the gold spring filled.

What Tuesday Changed

The Nasdaq-100 gapped to a third record and closed under its open. The index opened at 31,255, 138 points over Monday's all-time high, and its low for the day — 31,208.20 — never came back to that high. That leaves a 91-point hole on the chart from 31,117 to 31,208. The all-time high of 31,361.37 printed in the first hour; the rest of the session gave back 153 points and the close was 31,224.47, sixteen points over the low. Friday's and Monday's records closed over their opens. Tuesday's did not.

The S&P 500 made its first record close since August. It opened on its low at 7,805.96, twelve points over Monday's high, went through the August high of 7,816.70 inside the first hour, printed 7,844.52 and closed at 7,818.93 — two points over the old high and three over its upper daily Bollinger band. The wire calls it the first close over 7,800.

The NYSE turned. The NYSE McClellan oscillator closed at +5.47, its first close over zero in thirty-six sessions, and the NYSE summation index rose for the first time in thirty-six. The NYSE Composite opened on its low and closed at 23,921.67, 130 points over the 23,792 pre-alert line it had sat under for six sessions. On the Nasdaq side the oscillator also crossed zero and the bullish percent — the count — added three more buy signals to 48.51. That is nine net new buy signals in three sessions.

Oil settled under the line a second time. December Brent fell to $97.80 and was bought back three dollars to settle at $100.58. Saudi Arabia has its East-West pipeline back to about 5.8 million barrels a day and the G7 reserve release is arriving. Against that, another vessel was struck leaving the strait and the US energy agency raised its fourth-quarter Brent forecast to $105. After the settle the price traded back over 101.

Gold did what the unconventional structure was written for. It broke last week's shelf, fell to 4,104.11, and closed at 4,166.33 — back over its five-day average by $2.33. That is the failed breakdown Tuesday's Option 08 required. The fill is booked; the narrowness of the margin is in the ledger.

What Tuesday Did Not Change

Rates. The ten-year closed at 5.29% on the chart after a 5.33 high, down two basis points and still over 5.25 for a third session. Wire closes put it at 5.26–5.27, a basis point or two over the line. Prediction and futures markets price about a one-in-five chance of a hike on 28 October and roughly seven in ten by December. The Fed's minutes are due at 14:00 New York on Wednesday.

Participation inside the indices. The share of Nasdaq-100 members over their 50-day average was unchanged at 48.5% on a record close; the S&P's is 30.8%. The Russell 2000 fell 0.59% and the transports fell again. The NYSE advance-decline line reached +1,327 and closed at +576, under the +800 this framework counts as a repair print. The Nasdaq-100's own advance-decline reading has now traded over +30 on six consecutive days without closing there.

The monthly divergence. October's running bar carries a higher price than June's on a monthly RSI of 73.22 against June's 77.88. The gap narrowed from 4.93 to 4.66. The verdict is the monthly close on 30 October.

Credit. The high-yield ETF added thirty-six cents to 92.88, its best day of the decline, and is still 2.12 under the 95 line that re-opens the framework's buy ladders. The latest spread print, Monday's, was two basis points wider at 3.12.

Diplomacy. Iran's president called talks with the United States "meaningless" on Monday; Tuesday brought a struck vessel, twelve wounded crew off Oman, a missile intercepted over a Saudi air base and no agreement. Nothing was signed, so outright index longs stay struck.

Why the Record — and the Odds of Another

Five things carried the Nasdaq-100 to 31,361. One: demand for AI computing, in company statements rather than forecasts. Nvidia closed at an all-time high near a $6 trillion market value; AMD rose 2.8% after its chief executive said demand for compute "continues to outrun supply"; Marvell rose about 8% on a revenue target near $20 billion for fiscal 2028; Alphabet signed a twenty-year, 3,590-megawatt nuclear power contract with Constellation. Two: earnings. Third-quarter S&P 500 profit growth is expected at 30.6%, with reports starting on the 13th. Three: the bond market stopped getting worse — the ten-year came off Monday's 24-year closing high. Four: oil. Brent has settled under 101 twice after trading at 106 in September. Five: positioning. The retail survey still shows more bears than bulls and active managers cut exposure last week, so there are buyers left to chase.

What the rally is not. It is not broad — fewer than half the index's members are over their 50-day average. It is not confirmed by small caps or transports. And it has not been bought by this framework, which has kept its shock path modal throughout. That last point is a cost and is stated as one.

The odds of another record are better than even, and that says less than it sounds. The close sits 0.44% under the all-time high. At that distance even a market with no trend at all usually prints a new high within days. The table shows that baseline — 400,000 simulated price paths with no drift and daily volatility near 1.1% — beside the framework's own estimate, which is cut by eight to nine points for four reasons: Tuesday's bar closed under its open, the 30-minute momentum reading has rolled over, the close is above the weekly Bollinger band, and Wednesday carries the Fed minutes with tankers still being hit. These are model estimates, not a backtest and not a forecast.

Three ways the next five sessions can go. About 30%: the gap holds — no trade back under 31,208 that sticks — and new highs print toward 31,434–31,511. About 44%: the gap is partly or fully filled first, down to as far as 31,117, and a new high follows inside the week; this is the ordinary pattern after a gap to a record and is the single most likely path. About 26%: no new high by Tuesday the 13th; within that, about 14% is a daily close back under 31,117, the failure this issue's structural short is keyed to.

How this squares with a shock-modal matrix. The four paths describe regimes over weeks; the table describes distance over days. A tape can print another record on Thursday and still roll over in November — September did the first half of that. What would change the framework's read rather than its arithmetic: the count closing over 50, the ten-year closing under 5.25, high-yield over 95, or a signature. Three of those four are closer than they were a week ago.

The Four Paths — Reweighted

D · Shock (oil / rates / credit)
36% (38)
C · Structural rollover
24% (26)
B · Range / rotation
32% (28)
A · Bull continuation
8% (8)

Path D falls 2 to 36% and stays modal. Tuesday's issue wrote the line: two points off on a second Brent settle under 101. It keeps the lead because the ten-year closed over 5.25 a third session, nothing is signed, tankers were struck again and the market prices a December hike at about 70%. Its lead was eighteen points on Monday's issue, ten on Tuesday's and is four today; that trajectory is the story the weights are telling. A ten-year close under 5.25 takes four more and puts the range path in front.

Path C falls 2 to 24%. The rollover path's own internals are the ones that turned: both summation indices rose for the first time in the decline. It keeps twenty-four because the index-level structure is unrepaired — the count under 50 a twenty-third session, under half the members over their 50-day at a record, the monthly reading under June's. It re-takes two on a daily close under 31,117.

Path B rises 4 to 32%. Two points by the published line: an S&P close over 7,817 adds to the range path, and it closed at 7,818.93. Two more for the NYSE oscillator over zero and the NYSE Composite back over 23,792 — two of the three broad-market prints Tuesday's issue named. The third, an advance-decline close over +800, did not print, and the Russell 2000 fell.

Path A holds at 8%. Three records are not this path's rule. Its rule is a signed Hormuz date or the twin gate — the count over 50 with high-yield over 95. The count is 1.49 away and credit 2.12, the closest either has been. Neither has printed. A count close over 50 moves two points here on the day it happens.

The Honest Ledger

The map: four of five, and a third S&P miss. The Nasdaq-100 closed inside its projected band (31,224 against 30,910–31,245), though its high ran 27 points over the full range. The VIX, the ten-year and Brent were inside theirs. The S&P closed 13 points over the top of its band — the third session running it has missed on the upside. Tuesday's issue said a third same-side miss widens the band to one and a half times the true range, and Wednesday's S&P map is drawn that way.

The calls that resolved as written. A second Brent settle under 101 restores the 30% cap and takes two points off the shock path: printed. An S&P close over 7,817 adds to the range path: printed. The one-week test — does the broad market follow the count — returned two of three.

The standing miss. The shock path has been this framework's most likely path through three sessions in which the Nasdaq-100 rose 2.4% and the S&P 1.9% to records. Each day's reweighting followed its rule; the cumulative picture is a framework that has been late to a rally. That is owned here rather than averaged away.

Structures: one fill. The gold spring (Option 08) filled at the daily close of 4,166.33 at an eighth of a percent of book: a low of 4,104.11 and a close $2.33 over the 4,164 line on a chart stamped 18:18 New York. At 18:43 the live price was 4,163.0, a dollar under the line. A loss that may exist is claimed, a gain that may not exist is not: the fill is booked and marked −3.3. The gold short is void while it is open.

Structures: the index set did not trade, a third session. The Nasdaq-100 fade (Option 01) was gapped over — the open was 85 points above its zone and the gap clause says such an open is not chased. The S&P fade (Option 04) opened inside its zone, which is also not chased, and was voided by closes over 7,817 in the first hour; an entry at the open would have been stopped for about twenty points, and the clause is the only reason that is not a loss. The sell-stops sat 55 to 210 points under the lows. The VIX long needed 15.93 and the high was 15.54.

A condition that expired unused. The NYSE high-low index's oversold reading — an RSI under 15, a condition with a bounce record in this framework — was live for thirteen sessions and lapsed on Tuesday at 15.55 without a position, because outright longs were struck. The cost is closed out at the figure above.

No long structure at a record. A quarter-size gap-defence long was drafted for this issue to stop the standing-aside cost from running. It was struck before publication under the operator's rule: no long index structure is issued while the indices are at all-time highs. The cost of standing aside therefore continues to accrue and will continue to be stated. The VIX long, a hedge, and the gold position already on the book are not index longs and stay.

Wednesday execution rule. The Fed minutes land at 14:00 New York, so there are two windows: the first qualifying 30-minute close is the 10:30 bar, and no new tactical entry is taken between 13:45 and 14:30. The opening bar is not traded and no structure chases a gap. One tactical short per index: Options 01 and 02 behave as one-cancels-other, as do Options 04 and 05. Options 03 and 08 are not Wednesday trades — each arms only on a daily close and enters the following session. No long index structure is in the set: none is issued while the indices are at all-time highs. Everything tactical on the indices and the VIX is flat by 15:30. Step 9 — Trade Structures

Leveraged retail sizing. This plan does not prescribe position size in currency. The percentages are book-risk allocations: a "0.25%" structure risks a quarter of a percent of book equity between entry and stop, and a leveraged CFD account at up to 200× can express that with a fraction of margin. The framework's tactical cap was restored from 20% to 30% by Tuesday's second Brent settle under 101, but because the price traded back over 101 after the settle, this issue keeps every size at the 20%-cap level for one more session. While the Nasdaq-100 count closes at or over 45, rejection fades are half size. The halving rule applies to any long. A trigger gapped through by more than one percent is half size. Nothing is entered on the opening bar or between 13:45 and 14:30 New York.

Win probability is the framework's estimate that the first target prints before the stop within one day to one week, conditional on the trigger firing; it is not a backtest. It is calibrated to the scenario weights, to how each structure type has behaved across the last thirty days of issues — fades and sell-stops have not filled in three sessions of rising prices, and the one fill was the unconventional gold spring — and to the distance from the last price. All eight sit under 50% and carry the muted pill: lower-odds, higher-payoff structures on a tape at a record. No long index structure is issued while the indices are at all-time highs; the only longs in the set are the VIX hedge and the gold position already filled. Three are unconventional: Options 03 and 08 (daily-close, breadth-confirmed shorts on the Nasdaq-100 and the S&P, entered a session late) and Option 07 (the carried failed-break long in gold).

NDX — the record-band fade: sell a rejection close back under 31,361 after a print inside 31,361–31,439
Entry
USTECH CFD, short 0.25% (half tactical size — the count is 48.51, over 45, so a fade of a record runs against breadth as well as price) at 31,361–31,439 — Tuesday's all-time high 31,361.37 up to the 30-minute and hourly band tops at 31,434 and 31,439 — only on a 30-minute rejection close back under 31,361 after a print inside the zone made after 10:00 New York. No tactical short on strength: a 30-minute close over 31,439 before the rejection voids the day. Gap clause: a cash open inside or over the zone is not chased — the structure waits for a post-10:00 print in the zone and the close back under, or stands down. Minutes clause: no new entry between 13:45 and 14:30 New York.
Stop
31,475 — outside the 30-minute band top 31,434 and the hourly band top 31,439, the two lids a failed retest must stay under. No open gap sits between entry and stop.

Win prob.
~44% to 31,283 · ~34% to 31,234 · ~26% to flat (31,208). Conditional on the rejection close; reward-to-risk about 0.6:1 on the first target from 31,355 against the 120-point stop, 1.0:1 on the second, 1.2:1 on the flat.
Why
This is the third version of the same structure in three sessions and the first two never produced a rejection — Tuesday gapped clean over the zone. It stays in the set because Tuesday's bar is the first of the three to close under its open and within 16 points of its low, the 30-minute momentum reading has rolled from 70 to 61 with its MACD crossed down, and the close is 35 points over the weekly band top. The odds are under half because three consecutive record closes with breadth improving is trend, and fading trend has not paid.

NDX — the gap top lost: sell a holding close under 31,205 after a 31,262 print, with the exhaustion rule
Entry
USTECH CFD, sell-stop 0.25% (half tactical size) on the first 30-minute close after 10:00 New York that holds under 31,205 — the 30-minute 20-average, three points under Tuesday's low 31,208.20, which is the top of the open cash gap — and only after the cash session has traded at or over 31,262 (the 30-minute EMA-5). Exhaustion rule: not armed if the session has already fallen more than 171 points from its open at the trigger bar (60% of Tuesday's 285-point true range). Void on a next-bar close back over 31,234. Gap clause: a cash open under 31,205 fills on the first post-10:00 close that holds under it only after a 31,234 print, at 0.125%, first target rolled to the second; an open under 31,117 stands the structure down. Minutes clause: no new entry between 13:45 and 14:30 New York.
Stop
31,290 — outside the 30-minute 10-average 31,283 and EMA-5 31,262. The open gap (31,117–31,208) sits beneath the entry as the target band, not between entry and stop.
Targets

Win prob.
~42% to 31,143 · ~36% to 31,117 · ~22% to flat (31,053). Conditional on the holding close after a 31,262 print; reward-to-risk about 0.6:1 on the first target from 31,198 against the 92-point stop, 0.9:1 on the second, 1.6:1 on the flat.
Why
A cash gap directly under a close that finished 16 points over its low is the nearest magnet on the chart: the hourly EMA-14 (31,143) sits inside it and Monday's old all-time high (31,117) is its floor. A holding close under the gap top means Tuesday's opening buyers are underwater. The odds are two points better than Monday's sell-stop because the first target is inside the gap rather than beyond a shelf — and still under half because first-shelf sell-stops are the structure type that cost the book most in the last two weeks.

NDX — the gap filled and failed: sell after a daily close back under 31,117 with the count lower on the day, eighth size (unconventional)
Entry
USTECH CFD, short 0.125% (eighth size — the only index structure in the set that carries overnight) after the first DAILY close back under 31,117 — the floor of Tuesday's gap and Monday's old all-time high — on which the Nasdaq-100 bullish percent also closes lower than the prior session. The count is an end-of-day print read from the next capture, so the entry is the following session's first 30-minute close after 10:00 New York that is still under 31,117. Chase cap: no fill if that close is under 31,018 (more than 99 points through the line). Gap clause: a next-session cash open over 31,117 stands the structure down for the day.
Stop
31,300 — outside the whole gap (top 31,208) and the 30-minute 10-average 31,283: beyond the magnet, not inside it.

Why
Unconventional — a daily-close trigger confirmed by a breadth print and entered a session late. It succeeds Monday's version, whose line (31,018 with the count under 45) is now 206 points and three and a half count-points away. A gap up to a record that is filled and closed beneath within days leaves the gap-day buyers trapped; with the count turning down on the same close it is the 25 September pattern one band higher. The odds are the lowest index odds in the set because two things must reverse together on a tape that has just made three records.

Entry
US500 CFD, short 0.25% plus the 0.125% bank rung (the bank index closed 170.67, a seventh close under 175) at 7,844–7,863 — Tuesday's record high 7,844.52 up to the 30-minute and hourly band tops at 7,861 and 7,863 — only on a 30-minute rejection close back under 7,844 after a print inside the zone made after 10:00 New York. Half size: the full-size condition is both counts under 45, and the Nasdaq-100 count is 48.51. A 30-minute close over 7,863 before the rejection voids the day. Why
The S&P closed at a record with 31% of its members over their 50-day average, a bullish percent of 35.40, the Russell 2000 down 0.59% and the transports lower. Its close sits three points over the daily band top and its weekly MACD has not re-crossed. The odds are under half because the S&P version of this fade has now been run over three sessions running — Tuesday's open was already inside Monday's zone and the index never came back to reject it.

Entry
US500 CFD, sell-stop 0.25% on the first 30-minute close after 10:00 New York that holds under 7,806 — Tuesday's open and low 7,805.96, the top of the open cash gap, with the 30-minute 20-average 7,811 just over it — and only after the cash session has traded at or over 7,824 (the 30-minute EMA-5). Exhaustion rule: not armed if the session has already fallen more than 42 points from its open at the trigger bar (60% of Tuesday's 71-point true range). Void on a next-bar close back over 7,817. Gap clause: a cash open under 7,806 fills on the first post-10:00 close that holds under it after a 7,817 print, at half size, first target rolled to the second; an open under 7,794 stands the structure down. Why
7,806 is where Tuesday opened and never traded beneath; a holding close under it returns the breakout over the August high (7,816.70) and opens the twelve-point gap to Monday's high 7,794, with the hourly 20-average (7,775) and the daily EMA-5 (7,752) beneath. Trigger-distance cap: no entry if that qualifying close is over 15.54 (Tuesday's high); the structure then waits for a pullback close between 15.31 and 15.54 or stands down. No add. Why
Volatility confirmed Tuesday's record — the spot fell 3.3% and the volatility-of-volatility index made a low for the leg — so this is a hedge against the set's other reads, not a view. The front future still carries a 14% premium to the spot and the Fed minutes land at 14:00. A reclaim of the 30-minute average with the S&P back inside its gap is the first print that says the calm is being questioned. XAUUSD — the spring, filled and carried: long from 4,166.33 after the 4,104 undercut (unconventional)
Entry
XAUUSD CFD, long 0.125% — FILLED at Tuesday's daily close 4,166.33 under the published rule: an intraday print under 4,123 (the low was 4,104.11) and a daily close back over 4,164 (by 2.33 on the chart's 18:18 New York stamp), inside the 4,213 chase cap. The margin is narrow and the fill is claimed, not assumed away; the 18:43 live print is 4,163.0. No add. Management clause: a daily close under 4,137 (Tuesday's open) halves the position at that close. The bracket's short side is void while this is open.

Why
Unconventional — it buys a failed breakdown against the framework's own rate licence. Tuesday printed both halves: a break of the shelf to 4,104.11 and a close 62 dollars off that low, back over the fast average, on the first down-day for the dollar index in the leg. The odds rise two points from the entry estimate because the dollar's RSI came off 76 and the ten-year eased; they stay low because the ten-year is still over 5.25 and every daily average from the 10-day (4,193) up is overhead.

Entry
US500 CFD, short 0.125% (eighth size; carries overnight) after the first DAILY close back under 7,794 — the floor of Tuesday's gap and Monday's high 7,794.35, which also puts the close back under the old August high 7,816.70 — on which the S&P 500 bullish percent also closes lower than the prior session. The count is an end-of-day print read from the next capture, so the entry is the following session's first 30-minute close after 10:00 New York that is still under 7,794. Why
Unconventional — the S&P twin of Option 03: a daily-close trigger confirmed by a breadth print and entered a session late. The S&P's record close stands two points over the August high with 31% of its members over their 50-day average; a close back under Monday's high would return the gap and the breakout together. It takes the eighth slot because no long structure is issued while the indices sit at all-time highs. The odds are low because two things must reverse together on a tape that has just made a record.

Market Path

Next 24 hours

The base case is a session inside 31,065–31,384 with a close between 31,120 and 31,328 — the no-lean range, centred on Tuesday's close and 319 points wide. The S&P maps to 7,765–7,873 with a close of 7,784–7,854, the wider band its third upside miss requires; the VIX to 14.3–15.9, the ten-year to 5.19–5.39 and the December Brent settle to 97–104. The reasoning: Tuesday's bar closed under its open and sixteen points over its low; the 30-minute momentum reading reset from 70 to 61 while the hourly holds 68; and a 91-point gap sits directly beneath. A trade into that gap is the ordinary path and moves no weight. A daily close under 31,117 with the count lower returns two points to the rollover path; a ten-year close under 5.25 takes four off the shock path.

One week

The base case is 31,018–31,511. The week decides two things: whether the gap holds on a closing basis and whether the count crosses 50. Further repair prints would be an advance-decline close over +800, the Nasdaq-100's advance-decline reading closing over +30, and two more rises in the Nasdaq summation. Jobless claims and the sentiment surveys come Thursday, bank earnings on Tuesday the 13th and CPI on the 14th. Weight moves to the range path on a count close over 50 or a ten-year close under 5.25; to the rollover path on a daily close under 31,117, and makes it modal under 30,583; to the shock path on an NYSE close under 23,315, a VIX close over 17.85 or a credit spread over 3.50.

One month

October carries a higher price than June on a lower monthly momentum reading, now with the internals turning up beneath it. The central range is 30,070–31,511 into mid-October. The earnings bar is high — 30.6% expected growth — and the Fed meets on the 27th–28th with a ten-year at 5.29 as the cap on every multiple in the window. The upside path needs five conditions and one is now met: two Brent settles under 101. The other four are a signed Hormuz date, high-yield over 95, the ten-year under 4.90 and the count over 50.

Six months and year-end

Six months out the central case is a 27,000–31,600 range with downward drift while the monthly divergence resolves. The top of that range has now been lifted three times in a week to keep up with price, which is itself information about how the range is performing. A Hormuz reopening remains the largest upside input; a return to strikes the largest downside input. To year-end the conditional base case stays 27,500–29,800 for the Nasdaq-100 and 7,100–7,700 for the S&P. The index is 1,424 points over the top of that band today and the S&P 119 over its own. The band is a framework output conditional on the divergence holding, not a forecast; it is withdrawn if October closes over 31,117 with the monthly RSI over 77.88, and the distance is stated in every issue until then.

Sources and Data Discipline

Tuesday's closes, the stock-level drivers and the breadth remark are from Yahoo Finance and Invezz, with Monday's context from MarketScreener, Quartz and Schwab; the Brent and WTI settles from Invezz, Trading Economics and investingLive; the Gulf and Yemen events from CBS News and Iran International; the hike odds from a Kalshi tracker and the calendar from Admiral Markets. Every chart value is from Core_Charts_20261007.pdf, Gen 3, 55 of 55 core charts resolved by manifest label, captured 06:16 Singapore Wednesday; live prices from the 06:43 capture. Four flags. The Brent settle of 100.58 rests on one outright figure and two consistent descriptions; a second wire page could not be opened, and the price traded at 101.08 after the settle. The ten-year is 5.29 on the chart and 5.26–5.27 on the wire; the chart governs and the difference is material to the 5.25 rule. One source printed slightly different index closes and another an implausible oil price; both were set aside for the chart. The put-call chart's header again implies a revision to the prior day and its figure is treated as provisional. Intraday sequences are read from 30-minute chart images, not tick data; the gold fill is judged on a chart stamped 18:18 New York. The high-yield spread is a next-business-day series (3.12 is 5 October). The sentiment surveys are last week's prints, carried. The new-high probabilities are a simulated no-trend baseline with a stated haircut, not a backtest. Carried values are not presented as Tuesday prints.

The Bottom Line

What repaired: a third Nasdaq-100 record, the S&P's first record close since August, the NYSE oscillator over zero, the NYSE Composite back over its pre-alert line, a count one and a half points from 50 and a second oil settle under 101. What did not: the ten-year stayed over 5.25, under half the index's members are over their 50-day, small caps and transports fell, and nothing was signed. The range path takes four points and trails the shock path by four. Another record inside a week is about a three-in-four proposition on distance alone; the more useful question is whether Tuesday's gap holds on a close. No long structure is issued at a record. The tactical lines are 31,361–31,439 above and 31,205–31,117 below. The next decision points are the Fed minutes at 14:00, the ten-year against 5.25 and the count against 50.
