The Nasdaq-100 fell 2.02% to 29,950.82 on a hot September CPI, closing on its 50-day; the S&P 500 fell 1.11% to 7,718.94 and Brent settled $106.06. The VIX rose 10.5% to 16.87; the ten-year printed 5.33% on the release and closed 5.19%, a fourth close under 5.25. Headline CPI 3.7%, core 2.6%, a tenth hot on both. Two ships sank near the strait; nothing was signed. At 06:44 Singapore Thursday (18:44 New York Wednesday) the Nasdaq-100 CFD was 29,761.6, 100 under Wednesday's low, the S&P CFD 7,698.4, Brent 106.11 and gold 4,110.0. Producer prices and retail sales land at 08:30 New York.

The staircase printed in one session. The Nasdaq-100 opened at 30,316.03 — 253 points under Tuesday's close on the inflation print — bought about 120 points in its opening bar to 30,436.60, and then sold every half-hour bar of the day. Tuesday's low at 30,372 went in the first hour, the October low at 30,275 before noon, the hourly 200-average at 30,118 in the early afternoon, and the top of the 21 September gap at 29,933 in the last hour, where the index printed 29,861.06 — 1.7 points under its 50-day average — and closed 29,950.82, down 2.02%. Every one of those numbers was published in Tuesday's issue as a shelf on the rollover path. None of them carried a weight. The sequence is read from the 30-minute chart at about five points per pixel; the open, high, low and close are the chart's own.
The count went with the price a second day, and the members confirmed the analog. The Nasdaq-100 bullish percent fell 2.97 to 36.63 — under 40 for a second session — after printing 34.65 intraday, its lowest since the 8 October close of 38.00. The share of members over their own 50-day average fell to 38.61%, which is the print this framework's 13 October issue said the July analog needed to confirm. The Nasdaq summation index fell 39 points to a new low at −728.63, its largest one-day fall of the leg, and its oscillator closed −39.15, also the lowest of the leg. The driver was the whole chip complex rather than memory alone: the semiconductor index fell 4.3%, Oracle 8.8% on a credit downgrade to BBB− and a debt path toward $167 billion, AMD 5.8%, Nvidia 3.5%, Broadcom and Micron about 3.4%. ASML's record quarter did not hold the group.
The S&P 500 lost its 20-day and traded into its only open gap. It opened at 7,774, printed 7,789.15 in its opening bar — at the hourly 50-average, over Tuesday's low, so no gap was logged — and sold to 7,693.31 in the afternoon, 6.7 points into the 2 October gap at 7,685–7,700. The close was 7,718.94, down 1.11%, under the 20-day for the first time since 2 October and 12 points over the 50-day. Health care rose 2.4% with every large pharmaceutical name up about 4%, staples rose 2.2% and energy 0.7%; technology fell 3.0%. The Dow fell 0.09%, the Russell 2000 1.93%. The rotation the S&P has been the destination of all month did not stop it closing near its low.
The NYSE side went with the chips. The NYSE McClellan oscillator closed −6.76 after three consecutive closes over zero — +10.12, +9.93, +17.17 — giving back in one session more than it had built in three. Decliners led advancers by 1,375, the widest margin since 29 September, and the NYSE summation index fell for the first time after three rises. The NYSE Composite fell 0.50% and printed 29 points under this framework's pre-alert line at 23,792 before closing 73 over it, its thinnest margin in five sessions. Both sides of the market fell together for the first time in a week, and that is stated as plainly as the repair was.
The VIX rose through its whole stack and missed its line by eight cents. It opened at 15.17, on Tuesday's low, printed 14.98 in the first hour and then rose all day to 17.45, closing 16.87 — over every daily average from the 20-day at 15.42 to the 100-day at 16.42, and over the daily band top at 16.68. The line this framework had drawn for the shock path was 16.95, Tuesday's band top; the close was 0.08 under it, and the band top it was tracking had itself fallen to 16.68. The front future's premium halved to 6.3% as the spot ran up to meet it, and the equity put-call ratio printed 0.80.
Rates. September CPI printed 0.6% on the month and 3.7% on the year against a 3.6% consensus, with core at 0.3% and 2.6% against 0.2% and 2.5%; gasoline rose 7.1% in the month and shelter, airfares and used cars drove the core. The ten-year jumped to 5.278% on the release and 5.33% at the high, then reversed to close 5.19% — three basis points lower on the day and a fourth consecutive close under 5.25. That is the 2 October shape to the letter: a 5.35 print and a 5.24 close, a line pierced and not closed. Market pricing for a hike at the 27–28 October meeting went from about 22% before the print to about 43% after it and over 50% at the peak, settling near 37% by the close, depending on the source; Citi added a December hike to its forecast. The framework counts closes, so the shock path took nothing while its fuel rose. Today's close carries the same line, with producer prices and retail sales at 08:30.
Credit. The high-yield ETF fell 41 cents to 92.25, its twenty-fifth close under 95 and sixteenth under 94; the spread series printed 3.16 for Tuesday, five basis points wider, and has not printed for Wednesday. Credit went with the index and did not lead it: the spread is 0.34 from the 3.50 line that would add weight to the shock path, and the ETF 2.75 from the 95 that would reopen the ladders.
Oil. December Brent settled $106.06, up 0.4% — a fifth settle over 101, 3.39 under the 109.45 step — and WTI $95.09, a three-week high. The IRGC's navy said a container ship carrying 2,500 boxes sank south of the strait after hitting a naval mine; Singapore's maritime authority said the GFS Pride, struck on Tuesday, sank with all 21 crew evacuated; UKMTO reported a third container ship hit inbound, making ten ships struck in a week. Two senior Iranian officials told Reuters that Iran began "new tactics" against shipping about ten days ago, aimed at keeping oil prices high into the midterms. The Houthis hit Aramco's Dhahran headquarters — a limited fire by the energy ministry's account, extensive damage by Reuters' sources — and a ballistic missile was intercepted over Riyadh. Against that, the IEA put Gulf crude exports back at about 75% of pre-war levels in September. The oil rule did not move; the shipping-strike clause stays live.
Diplomacy. The President told a rally that the midterm reprieve on Iran "might be running out in a few weeks" and, in the same speech, that the war "will end very soon" and that more oil is leaving the strait than before the war. Iran's vice president said any talks need the approval of the Supreme National Security Council and the Supreme Leader; no reply through the Qatari channel was reported. Netanyahu said a pre-election strike is "not convenient". A campaign speech is not a date and a procedural statement is not a reply; nothing was signed, and outright index longs stay struck — including the long at the 50-day that this issue names below and does not take.
The monthly divergence. October's running bar now holds a higher high than June's on a monthly RSI of 69.38 against 77.88 — the gap widened to 8.50 from 5.90 — and the bar itself is 458 points under September's close of 30,408.50. The verdict is still the monthly close on 30 October. A close under September's would make October a down month after a record print, which is the shape the divergence describes; a close over 31,117 with the RSI over 77.88 would withdraw it. Neither is near.
No weight moved on a 2% day. The rule is that weights move on lines written in advance, and the only lines written for Wednesday were a ten-year close over 5.25, a VIX close over 16.95, a Brent settle at 109.45, an NYSE Composite close under 23,352, an S&P close over 7,817 and a Nasdaq-100 close back over 30,734. The first two were pierced and not closed; the rest were not approached. The rollover path's shelves had no weight on them. That is a gap in the framework, and it is filled below rather than back-filled.
Path C holds at 34% and stays modal. Every shelf it described printed in one session, the count fell under 40 a second day, the share of members over their 50-day confirmed the analog, the summation made a new low and the daily MACD widened down. The path is confirmed in kind, not in points. Against it: the index is 4.5% off its high in six sessions with its half-hour momentum reading at 28 and its hourly at 22, the futures are already 100 points under the low, and the 50-day has been bought on first touch every time since April. The retirement line moves with the average it is keyed to: a daily close back over 30,473 — the daily EMA-5 — with the count over 40 returns the shock path to modal at 34 / 30 / 28. A new line is written in advance: a daily close under 29,862, the 50-day, with fewer than 40% of members over their own 50-day, moves two points here from the range path.
Path D holds at 32%. Its inputs were pierced and not printed. The ten-year's line is a close over 5.25 and the close was 5.19; the VIX line was 16.95 and the close 16.87; Brent settled 3.39 under the step; the spread is 3.16 against 3.50; the NYSE Composite closed 497 over its 200-day. The hike odds doubled, which is the path's fuel, and the framework counts closes. Two things change: the VIX line no longer follows the daily band top, which fell under the close it was meant to catch, and is fixed at 17.45 — Wednesday's high — on a daily close; and the NYSE Composite line moves to 23,369, the 200-day as read fresh on this capture. D retakes modal on a ten-year close over 5.25, or on any two of a VIX close over 17.45, a spread over 3.50, an NYSE Composite close under 23,369 and a Brent settle at 109.45.
Path B holds at 26%. None of its lines was in reach — the S&P closed 98 under 7,817 and the Nasdaq-100 1,166 under 31,117 — and its advance-decline line is dormant while the NYSE oscillator is under zero. The evidence the path built last week is under review by this framework's own digestion rule: a second oscillator close under zero retires the repair confirmation. One line is added for it: a daily Nasdaq-100 close back over 30,583, the rollover line re-taken, returns two points here from the rollover path.
Path A holds at 8%. Both halves of its twin gate moved further away — the count is 13.4 points from 50 and high-yield 2.75 under 95 — and "will end very soon" has been said before.
One structure paid, and the gain is claimed. The Nasdaq-100 sell-stop (Option 02) was keyed to a holding close under 30,372 after a 30,423 print. The cash open at 30,316 was under the trigger and over the 30,275 line that would have stood the structure down, so its gap clause applied: half size, after a 30,423 print, with the first target rolled to the second. The 30,423 print came in the opening bar, whose high was 30,436.60. The 10:30 bar closed near 30,230 on the chart — under the trigger and inside the 165-point exhaustion limit from the open. A short near 30,230 at an eighth of a percent of book then saw both rolled targets print, 30,118 and 29,933, by 72 points or more on the day's own low. Thirds at 30,118, 29,933 and about 29,940 at 15:30 give a blended gain of about 225 points. The fill is a chart read within about ten points; the targets are verified on the daily open-high-low-close, not on the image. Under this framework's doctrine a gain is claimed only when it exists, and this one does.
The structural was armed and out of reach — for the second time. Option 03 was armed by Tuesday's close and was to fill on the first 30-minute close from the 10:30 bar still under 30,583, with no fill under 30,465. The open was 30,316, 149 points under that cap, and the high never reached it. The structure as written could not fill, and the path it described printed 600 points without it in the book. On 9 October this framework called the same failure "a cap keyed to one shelf" and changed the cap; the change was not enough. No cost is booked; the cost is a 2% day on the right side of the read with nothing on. The design is changed again, more fundamentally: the single-shelf cap is retired, and when the open is under the cap the structural now fills at half its size under the same gap clause the tacticals carry. For today, with the index 632 points under its line, the structural is re-armed and keyed to a retest rather than a chase.
A second structure was right and may not have been owned; no gain is claimed. The VIX long (Option 06) needed a 30-minute close back over 15.53 with the S&P under 7,795 and no entry over 15.85. The S&P was under 7,795 on every bar. The spot opened at 15.17, under the trigger, printed 14.98 and rose from the 10:00 bar; on the chart the 10:30 bar closes somewhere between 15.7 and 15.9 against a cap of 15.85. If it closed inside the cap, a long near 15.75 saw all three targets print — 15.98, 16.42 and 16.95 — for a gain near 0.9 on a quarter of a percent. If it closed over the cap, the structure waited for a pullback inside 15.53–15.85 that never came, and stood down. The cap decides, and the cap sits inside the image's resolution. A gain that may not exist is not claimed. Twice in one session a cap took a right read out of the book; the gold short's cap, by contrast, let it in.
The S&P sell-stop was right on direction and never saw its qualifier. Option 05 needed a holding close under 7,786 after a 7,795 print. The open at 7,774 was under the trigger and over the stand-down line, so its gap clause was live — but the qualifier, 7,795, was 21 points over the open, and the day's high was 7,789.15. The index fell 81 points from the open without the book. A qualifier fixed above a gap-down open is a design flaw: from today, when the open is under a sell-stop's trigger, the qualifier is a print back over the session's open.
The gold short filled. Option 08 was keyed to a daily close under 4,147 with a chase cap at 4,100 and the ten-year over 5.00. Gold closed 4,105.61 on the chart's 18:19 stamp — under the line, 5.61 over the cap, with the ten-year at 5.19. The short is on at an eighth of a percent from 4,105.61 and carries about four dollars against it at the evening's 4,110. Wednesday's low of 4,073.50 printed before the fill and is not a target hit; the 4,131 target sits over the fill and is struck under the 17 September rule. The stop is trailed to 4,178.
Wednesday's map: two of five. The ten-year closed inside its band and Brent settled inside its range. The Nasdaq-100 closed 529 points under the bottom of its projected band and 472 under the range floor — a third consecutive downside miss, which by the no-lean rule's own schedule widens today's band to one and a half times the true range. The S&P closed 77 points under its band and the VIX 0.47 over its range. Three misses in a row on the same side is information: the range is centred on the last close and a trend walks away from it.
Calls that resolved. Tuesday's issue gave the one-month central range as 29,858–31,361; Wednesday's low of 29,861.06 held the bottom by three points, and Monday's version (29,823) by 38. The 13 October issue said the July analog "needs a NDXA50R close under 40 to confirm"; it closed 38.61. The VIX line of 16.95, carried from Tuesday's band top, was pierced by 0.50 and missed on the close by 0.08 while the band top it tracked fell to 16.68 — a line keyed to a moving average moved under the close it was meant to catch, and two points were not taken on a technicality of this framework's own making; it is fixed now, and the miss is owned. The year-end band's top at 29,800 was 769 points under the index on Tuesday's issue and is 151 under it today; the band is a conditional output and the distance is stated whichever way it runs. The 7 October record-odds table was closed against on Tuesday and is not re-litigated.
Structures that did not trade. The Nasdaq-100 gap fade never saw its zone — the high was 159 points under it. The S&P fade stopped 28 points short. The add-back rung was not live without the structural. Outright index longs stayed struck through a fall to the 50-day; the bid at the 50-day was not taken, and no cost or credit is claimed for standing aside.

Win probability is the framework's estimate that the first target prints before the stop within one day to one week, conditional on the trigger firing; it is not a backtest. It is calibrated to the scenario weights, to how each structure type has behaved across the last thirty days of issues — fades have met their triggers twice this month for a scratch and a small unclaimed gain; sell-stops lost on every fill until Wednesday's, which paid; the structural has armed twice and filled never; the doorway long has not been claimable on any version — and to the distance from the last price. All eight sit under 50% and carry the muted pill: lower-odds, higher-payoff structures. No outright index long is issued, because nothing is signed; the long at the 50-day is named below as the alternate the protocol strikes. Two structures are unconventional: Option 03, the structural re-keyed to a retest of the band it broke, with a gap clause in place of a cap; and Option 07, a rejection at the gap top that stands alone or doubles as the add-back rung to a filled sell-stop.
| # | Structure | Win prob. | Instrument | Side |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 01 | NDX — the lost-shelf fade: sell a rejection close back under 30,225 after a print inside 30,225–30,275, from the 10:30 bar | ~40% | NDX (USTECH CFD) | Short (rejection, half size) |
| 02 | NDX — the 50-day lost: sell a holding close under 29,861 after a 29,933 print, with the buffered exhaustion rule and the rewritten gap clause | ~36% | NDX (USTECH CFD) | Short (sell-stop) |
| 03 | NDX — the structural, re-armed and re-keyed to the retest: sell a rejection close back under 30,473 after a print inside 30,473–30,583, eighth size, with the new gap clause (unconventional) | ~36% | NDX (USTECH CFD) | Short (structural, eighth size) |
| 04 | SPX — the 20-day fade with the bank rung: sell a rejection close back under 7,733 after a print inside 7,733–7,753 | ~42% | SPX (US500 CFD) | Short (rejection, half size) |
| 05 | SPX — the gap filled and lost: sell a holding close under 7,685 after a 7,707 print, with the rewritten gap clause | ~34% | SPX (US500 CFD) | Short (sell-stop) |
| 06 | VIX — the doorway re-entry on the pullback: buy a 30-minute close back over 16.42 after a post-10:30 print under 16.12, no entry over 16.90 | ~38% | VIX (CFD, spot-referenced) | Long (convexity) |
| 07 | NDX — the failed re-take of the gap top: sell a rejection close back under 29,933 after a post-10:30 print back over it, eighth size stand-alone or as the add-back rung to a filled Option 02 (unconventional) | ~40% | NDX (USTECH CFD) | Short (rejection / rung, eighth size) |
| 08 | XAUUSD — the filled short, carried: stop trailed to 4,178, targets re-keyed to 4,073 / 4,032 / 3,929, eighth size | ~42% | XAUUSD (CFD) | Short (carried, eighth size) |
The base case is a session inside 29,420–30,482 with a close between 29,630 and 30,270 — the no-lean range, centred on Wednesday's close and widened to one and a half times the 708-point true range after three consecutive downside misses. The S&P maps to 7,663–7,775 with a close of 7,685–7,752, Wednesday's 112-point true range re-centred and not widened; the VIX to 15.6–18.2, the ten-year to 5.08–5.32 and the December Brent settle to 102–110. The reasoning runs in four steps. The index closed 90 points off its low on the 50-day after a 575-point day with its half-hour momentum reading at 28 and its hourly at 22, and the evening board is 100 points under the low — so the first move is the test of 29,861–29,933 from below, not from above. The shelves overhead are 30,005, 30,093, 30,148 and then the 30,225–30,275 band; beneath are 29,736, the gap floor at 29,648 and the 100-day at 29,625. The 10:30 bar decides the book, because the 08:30 releases carry the open. A cool producer-price print gaps the board back over the low and the fades wait for their zones; a hot one opens under the gap floor and stands the sell-stops down by their own clause — the fill needs the number to be ordinary, again. A daily close under 29,862 with fewer than 40% of members over their 50-day adds two points to the rollover path; a ten-year close over 5.25 returns the shock path to modal; a daily close back over 30,473 with the count over 40 retires the rollover read.
The base case is 29,648–30,473 inside 29,236–30,780. This is the week the 50-day is either held or handed back. The rollover line printed on a close and its staircase printed in a session; the structural is re-armed on a retest; the NYSE side has one oscillator close under zero after three over and its repair print is under review; the bond market has four closes under 5.25 and a hot CPI behind it, with producer prices and retail sales today, expiry and the Fed chair's remarks on Friday. The tests: today's ten-year close against 5.25; the Nasdaq-100 against 29,862 on a close and 30,473 on a close; the count against 40 and its 8 October low of 38.00; the S&P against 7,685 and 7,817; the Brent settle against 109.45. Weight moves to the range path on a close back over 30,583 or 7,817; to the rollover path on a close under 29,862 with the members' confirmation; to the shock path on a ten-year close over 5.25, a VIX close over 17.45, a Brent settle at 109.45 or an NYSE Composite close under 23,369. The downside path inside the week runs 29,648, 29,625, 29,564 and the August gaps at 29,453–29,236; for the S&P, 7,685, 7,653, 7,629–7,600 and 7,594.
October holds a higher high than June on a lower monthly momentum reading, ten sessions in, and the gap between the two readings widened to 8.50 — and the running bar now sits 458 points under September's close. The central range is 29,236–30,780 into late October, the 17 September gap floor to the June high; it comes down from 29,858–31,361 because the index closed 829 points under the June high with every daily average lost, and the bottom of the old range was held by three points. The Fed meets on the 27th and 28th with the odds of a rise roughly doubled by CPI; Israel votes on the 27th, the month closes on the 30th and the US votes on 3 November. The upside path needs five conditions and none is met: a signed Hormuz date, two Brent settles under 101, high-yield over 95, the ten-year under 4.90 and the count over 50. The verdict is the monthly close: over 31,117 with the monthly RSI over 77.88 invalidates; a close under 30,408.50 makes October a down month after a record print, which is the shape the divergence describes.
Six months out the central case is a 27,000–31,600 range with downward drift while the monthly divergence resolves; the top of that range is unchanged for a fifth issue, and the index is now inside the range's upper third rather than above it. A Hormuz reopening remains the largest upside input and the largest sell-the-news for the war-bid assets; a return to strikes is the largest downside input, and "running out in a few weeks" and "end very soon" in one speech show the date is a political one. To year-end the conditional base case stays 27,500–29,800 for the Nasdaq-100 and 7,100–7,700 for the S&P. The index is 151 points over the top of that band, from 769 on Tuesday's issue, and the S&P 19 over its own. The band is a framework output conditional on the divergence holding, not a forecast; it is withdrawn if October closes over 31,117 with the monthly RSI over 77.88, and the distance to it is stated every session, in both directions.
Wednesday's closes, the CPI detail, the sector moves and the bank news are from TheStreet and Yahoo Finance, the chip-index and single-name moves and the futures-market Fed pricing from Bank of Volatility; the rate-hike odds and the post-release yield from Invezz and the session recap, the dollar and the intraday yield path from BabyPips; the Brent and WTI settlements, the IEA figures and the freight costs from Bloomberg via Rigzone and investingLive; Iran's "new tactics", the Aramco strike and the Asian-session oil prices from Reuters via Yahoo; the sunk ships, the Riyadh interception, the President's rally remarks, Tehran's statements and Netanyahu's from the Fox News live blog, and the strait's vessel count from Straits. Every chart value is from Core_Charts_20261015.pdf, Gen 3, 55 of 55 core charts resolved by manifest label, captured 06:20 Singapore Thursday; live prices from the 06:44 capture. Ten flags. The Brent settle rests on one wire, with a second giving "about $106, up 0.4%"; the chart's 105.87 and the board's 106.11 are later prints. The ten-year's 5.19 close is the chart and one ticker; a second source gives "near 5.2"; the 5.278 widely quoted was the post-release print. The rate-hike odds differ by source and time — about 43% after the print and about 37% by the close — and both are given. The high-yield spread chart shows Tuesday's print, one session behind. The Nasdaq-100 advance-decline reading closed at exactly Tuesday's value on a fresh bar and is doubted, logged, and not restated. The equity put-call header implies Tuesday's print was revised from 0.64 to 0.54, the third revision in four headers. The Nasdaq and NYSE summation charts carry header changes that do not match their oscillators; the summations are computed from the oscillators and match the chart closes. The Nasdaq-100 bullish percent opened at 38.61 against a 39.60 prior close. The NYSE Composite's three averages are fresh on this capture and its 200-day moves to 23,368.57 from the carried 23,352. Intraday sequences, the claimed fill and the unclaimed one are taken from 30-minute images that resolve about five Nasdaq-100 points, under one S&P point and two VIX cents, not from tick data; the claimed gain's targets are verified on the daily open-high-low-close. The sentiment surveys are last week's prints, carried; fresh prints post today. Carried values are not presented as Wednesday prints.
What repaired: nothing. What did not: the Nasdaq-100 fell 2% through every shelf the rollover path had published and closed on its 50-day with its count under 40 and its members' confirmation printed; the S&P lost its 20-day and traded into its only open gap; the NYSE oscillator closed under zero after three closes over; the ten-year printed 5.33 and the VIX 17.45 and neither closed through its line; Brent settled over 101 a fifth time and nothing was signed. The weights are unchanged at 34, 32, 26 and 8 because no written line printed, and the missing lines are written now. One gain is claimed, one is not, the structural missed its own path a second time and its design is changed, and the gold short is on. The tactical lines are 29,861 and 30,225 for the Nasdaq-100, 7,685 and 7,733 for the S&P. The next decision points are the 08:30 releases, the 10:30 bar, today's ten-year close against 5.25 and the daily close against 29,862 and 30,473.
